my refund has been being processed for over 8 months?? WHY?? I have proven my ID over 8 months ago. and I still am not one bit closer than I was over 8 months ago. WHY?? WHERE US MY REFUND?
@ksue1203 wrote:its has been over 8 months. the irs "where's my refund" site still says its being processed. I had to upload docs. proving my ID, I did that 8 months ago. what is the hold up?
Sorry you're having such a delay, but users in a community forum won't know anything specific about your return. But I can tell you how to try to speak to an IRS agent, and will also provide info on how to reach the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service to see if they can get some info for you or expedite things. Another option, if you have an IRS Taxpayer Assistance Center in your town, you can make an appointment, if you wish, and meet in person with someone there.
The IRS is not easy to reach. I have found that for me it was best to call just before closing time--about 6:50-6:55 PM and go through the steps below. I figured a lot of folks would not call that close to closing, and that if I was one of the last to get into the queue, they would finish off all the people who were in the queue at closing time. I still had to wait about 25-30 minutes.
IRS: 800-829-1040 (7AM-7 PM local time) Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do not choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
If you have no luck reaching the IRS, or don't get satisfactory information, you can try contacting the IRS Taxpayer Advocate Service for your area. They are especially prone to help if you have an economic hardship, or if there have been continued delays with lack of info from the IRS, so stress one of those. At the following IRS website, select your state from the dropdown menu, and it will give you the number of your IRS Taxpayer Advocate. If the Taxpayer Advocate can't/won't help you, ask them to transfer you to an IRS agent. A couple of users reported that at least for them, that was a backdoor route to the IRS.

Only the IRS can answer your question. Once accepted, Turbotax receives no further info. The good news is the IRS has it but how much longer it will take before you get your refund no one can answer. Not even the IRS. Keep checking the status.
One OP thread said they contacted their congressperson because they had not received their 2019 refund which had been pending for about 2 years.
Mine says the same thing. It's says accepted still. But TurboTax gave me a date 3/7 I filed on valentine's day
It can take anywhere from a few days to 3 weeks to update and show the status. The 21 days is just an estimated time frame. The IRS began processing returns on 2/12, you may not find a record of it or the website may say that you have put in incorrect information when tracking your federal refund. As your return moves through the system, its status will be updated.
Since Turbo Tax will not have the status of your refund, continue checking the Where’s My Federal Refund tool for updates. Updates are made daily, usually overnight.
What does pending mean?

So what do I do if I filed back on January 25th I have claimed no tax credit child or anything I'm single no children I just put down what the w2s have on them it is now february 20th and it still says being processed that's 26 days with no knowledge of why or when when it's supposed to be 21 or under my dad filed after me gat his last wensday my brother in law is receiving his today I tried calling the irs last Friday to see what was up they told me it could be March for whatever reason when my tax return is as simple as can be
No tax return is the same. Therefore, some tax returns take longer to process than others for many reasons.
What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?
I've filed the same exact way every single year since I've been working I am single with no children and just put what the w2 has on it from whatever jobs I've had every year before last year I recieved my refund within 7-8 days last year it was the supposed usually 21 days now I'm at 27 days and still says being processed should of been here last week already but I'm just waiting for no reason
Once the return is filed through Turbo Tax, Turbo Tax does not receive any updates on the return or why it is delayed.
You would need to contact the IRS to check on why you have not received the refund yet. @Cr1995sh
Have you received yours yet? Mine says the 19th.🤔
Accepted means your e-file has passed inspection such as your Social Security numbers are correct and dependents haven't already been claimed. If it's been less than 21 days since your return was accepted, you are now waiting for it to be approved. At this point, it's in the hands of the IRS and nobody can tell you how many days that will take. Here is information from the IRS website that may help. It can take anywhere from a few days to three weeks to go from acceptance to approval.
It sounds like you have a date for your tax refund, so it should arrive soon.
The thing about too much traffic on the cite is absolute bull**bleep**. If people didn't keep parroting the same garbage it would be easier to find real answers. If you don't know, don't answer.
@Sauron Seems like you are commenting about a post that was put into this thread over three years ago in 2020. Do you have a question or current issue you need help with?
I do. I filed on the 28th of August and had bars with accepted on the irs website. Then everything disappeared for a few days and there seemed to be no record of my return being filed. It came back without the status bar saying We received your return and it is being processed. It's over 21 days. Is this normal? Do I need to call? Will calling be of any help?
21 days is just an estimate. And it's business days. It can take a lot longer. You know they got your return and are processing it. The IRS status can be shown or be missing as it moves through the system. Just keep waiting.
