It depends. If you did NOT itemize deductions on your 2022 tax return, in other words you used the standard deduction, there is nothing to report in 2023 for a state tax refund.
Only itemized deductions would have reduced your income by more than the standard deduction. If you did itemize your deductions then all or part of this refund might be taxable income.
This worksheet will allow you to figure it out ONLY if you did itemize deductions in 2022.
You meant the tax year 2023 filing.
Does the Form 1099-G show a 2022 State tax refund sent to you in 2023? If so, on the 2022 federal tax return did you itemize your deductions on Schedule A or did you take the Standard Deduction? If you took the Standard Deduction you do not report the 2022 State tax refund on the 2023 federal tax return.
I never applied for unemployment though. I reported fraud but was told I called the wrong department
