How long does it take to receive an amended refund

I amended my taxes February 27 2022 how much longer do I need to wait because it's getting really ridiculous I need my taxes ASAP it's bull crap that the IRS doesn't want to send everyone that has amended there return when everyone else gets there all I have to do is Mail my VA state back but my federal has been accepted

That's what mine says also I amended my taxes on TurboTax also on February 27 2022 I don't understand why it keeps saying my information isn't available all I have to do is Mail my Virginia state return and I look at my transcripts I just don't understand them at all the only thing it says April 15 but doesn't give me a date when they going to send my check

Even during normal times the IRS will take at least 4 months to process an amended tax return.  As of March 25 the IRS had 7.2 million unprocessed tax returns.

I filed my amended return and IRS received it on 7/31/2021.  I have waited now over 8 months.  Get used to it!! They are a sham Government Agency and we as taxpayers are at the MERCY of these idiots!!!!

@grandpa05 The IRS has a backlog on returns.  It’ll probably take longer than what is indicated on their website to get a refund.  I filled an amended return Feb 2021.  It wasn’t showing up on the website as received until September 2021.  That’s when I was able to confirm that they did receive the return.  I got my refund November 2021.  Hopefully it doesn’t take that long for you.

First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:

Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control.  TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.

You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount  (line 35a of your 2021 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

Hello- Mine took 8 months.  The only way I got it was to contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service in AZ where I live.  Every state has one.  Within 1 week of me filing a complaint with them, I was called by a person that gave me her contact information.  I was told it would be one more month before I received it.  Well, 3 weeks later she called me again and told me IRS has cut a check and I would get it in a week or so.  Three days later I received it.  They also added interest for the 8 months they did NOT pay it.  Granted it was not a lot, depends I suppose on how much your amended return is for.  I hope this helps you.

Please contact the Taxpayer Advocate Service in your state.  I did after 8 months with no answers nor movement.  Within 3 weeks of contacting this agency with a complaint I had my refund.

Amended returns can to 14-16 weeks to process.

I filled on the 24 of February and my check just got issues on the 11th but is still not in the mailbox
