How long after the bank rejects my refund will it take the IRS to issue me a paper check

did your transcript say if it was mailed or direct deposited again or just the refund issued date

I couldn’t find anything on the transcript that said direct deposited or mailed. I checked and it just stated

“Return Due Date or Return Received Date (whichever is later)  April 15, 2022 “

It can take approximately 5 business days for the IRS to receive the funds back. 

Once they receive the funds they will send you a paper check. This can take up to 10 business days for you to receive it.

I called they said my check was mailed Feb 28th an it's almost March 14th an it still hasn't arrived

it’s a white envelope and it should have “CIVISTA BANK” in bold black letters. With a verification number to the right

No your wrong tax expert..the IRS sends the payment to have the deductions taken out for thenprerparinh fees from turbo tax..it doesn't get sent back to the IRS it goes from the IRS to santa Barbara tax group an then they issue your check if the direct deposit fails

I’m in Texas. I’ll have to call them to see what they say because the “where’s my refund” hasn’t updated and my refund was rejected Feb 24th so it has been nearly two weeks and it hasn’t updated 🤦🏾

Does this apply to 2022 for 21 taxes? i know things have been slow for some people since covid.  I filed Feb. 7 and was accepted and  used my wells fargo acct. After it was approved, I got the deposit date of Feb.24 but found out my account was closed. Wells fargo said they havent recieved it because acct was closed so im guessing the bank automatically returned it so not i have no idea when or if it was sent back to irs and cant get a hold of them and dont know wheather or not to be expecting a check soon or whats going on. Can u help me.

Is there any way I can find out if the IRS has received or sent my check out to me? Its been 3 weeks since deposited in my account so if it takes about 15 days for them to get back and send back to me, I should hopefully expect it soon but would be nice to know approx dates?!

A similar problem happened to me last year. It took 3 months for me to get the check in the mail and there really is nothing you can do to speed up the process. The only thing I can assure you is you will receive it at some point and the bank generally returns it electronically to the IRS right away.

@Legend129 Sorry---the IRS does not provide tracking or a way for you to anticipate the arrival of the mailed check.   It will just come via first class mail.   From the time the bank sent it back to the IRS it will take at least three weeks and maybe longer.  You just have to watch your mailbox.

Thanks that helps. I know two weeks was too good to be true when dealing with the IRS!  At least I know kind of what to expect and that it will eventually come.

Cool thanks. I feel better knowing it will take longer than 3 weeks because I was starting to think it got lost at the IRS or in the mail.

I’m in the same boat as you I can’t hold of any irs rep and the where’s my refund hasn’t updated at all. It said my rejected the refund the 24th of Feb and it would take five business days for the irs to receive back the refund and then another 10 business days for them to mail it out but it’s already the 14th and have not received any info about the refund since I’m just having to wait.
