How can I print my CA state taxes for free

Print for free?   What software did you use?   If you used the Free Edition you can print it for free.   If you used a paid version then you have to pay for the use of the software before you can print the return.   Your online fee is the same whether you e-file the state return or send it by mail in an envelope.

If you are using the desktop software you can avoid the state e-file fee by printing and mailing the state return.  Go to File and choose to print the state return, then sign and mail it in to the state.   With the CD/download (desktop software) you have to pay a state e-file fee of $25, but you can file it by mail without an extra fee.
