Hello, I need to amend a tax return that I submitted through irs free file. Intuit no longer supports it so how do I amend? Thanks

You only need to sign onto the Free File Program delivered by TurboTax using the exact same User ID you used for the Free File program - https://myturbotax.intuit.com/

Scroll down to the section Your tax returns & documents.  Click on the Year and Click on Amend (change) return

OK...Then you will need to contact TurboTax support so they can assist you in amending a tax return originally completed using the Free File Program.

You will get the info about FREE FILE no longer being supported then choose to start with the online program even if you will not use it.  Once you get thru the personal information you will land on the home screen where you can scroll down and pick the tax year you want then choose to amend ... follow the screen instructions.

@Critter-3 That would be good for the 2020 return.  But what about 2019 and 2018?  Don't see how the user can amend from Free File.  I posted to the Moderators about this issue.

You never amended from the free file option at any time ... it was always thru the main TT system even if you used the free file option.   They should be able to log in and get to the home screen as I mentioned ... I was able to do this with my test returns thru the free file option just fine.

Hmmm....Not getting it.  Did the import and entered all the personal info but looking at amend for any tax year it still shows - Amending a prior year return is not currently supported by IRS Free File Program delivered by TurboTax

You cannot amend the 2021 return that you have NOT yet filed ... on the home screen  scroll down and look for this :

What no, I need to amend my 2020. It’s been a long 10 months of waiting to figure things out and it appears I made a mistake and they took this long to tell me.

Ok ... so for 2020 it is not yet available for those who used the free file option last year ... you can wait for it to come online  or download the .taxfile  and call TT support for a download pushed your way  if you need to amend it now.
