Filed federal taxes on March 19, 2020. Opened Turbo tax today to try to change the date of our payment since the federal government changed the due date to July , 2020. After installing turbo updates today our federal amount due has increased by $25.00. How do we handle this?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You will have to review your tax return to see what changed.
If you e-filed your 2019 tax return with a payment for the federal taxes owed then the payment will have to be canceled if you want to change the payment date.
You will have to cancel the payment and then pay the federal taxes owed on the IRS payment website on or before July 15, 2020.

I Filed my taxes using Turbotax on 3/7/21 having a federal tax due of $2105, I tried to open Turbotax today 4/1 to check on the tax due payment that I scheduled for 3/31and the program had to download and install new updates. When done, my tax due was $398, but no change on State tax. Checked my entry and it was good, but when I printed the tax return it showed the right tax due on the first page but showed the wrong input missing the unemployment tax.
I also received a 1099-DIV last week that I need to file for amendment.
How can I fix the existing taxes before I file for the additional 1099-DIV?
