What happen during the processing period of a refund.
Day 21 and nothing yet. Anyone else still waiting?
@Cinderelle58 During the processing period, the IRS looks for math errors on your return (extremely rare in TurboTax) and check if you owe back taxes, unpaid child support, or other debts. If they need to make any corrections, they may offset (reduce) your refund. In some cases, the correction might even increase your refund. Once that part's done, the government approves your refund, which means it's ready to be deposited or sent.
If it has been more than 21 days since your return was accepted by the IRS, please see the following help article for assistance: What if my IRS refund is taking longer than 21 days?
I'm still waiting for mine too. I have no bars anymore it just says still processing and will have a date when available. I filed early. I had a baby in November 2020 I wonder if that's the hold up. I've never had this problem before.
The IRS began accepting returns on February 12th. It takes about 21 days for the IRS to issue a refund if there are no additional delays, once the return has been accepted. To get an actual date for when you will receive your refund, please go to www.irs.gov/refund.
If you have already checked this website and it says Approved, the IRS says:
"We’ve approved your refund. We are preparing to send your refund to your bank or directly to you in the mail. This status will tell you when we will send the refund to your bank (if you selected the direct deposit option). Please wait 5 days after we’ve sent the refund to check with your bank about your refund since banks vary in how and when they credit funds. (It could take several weeks before you receive a mailed refund check.)"

When I log into TurboTax the bar showing progress is complete, but status still says accepted? It has also been more than 21 days for me. What does this mean?
Also, does anyone know what time IRS deposits?
Per the IRS "Where’s My Refund? will give you a personalized date after we process your return and approve your refund." These deposits normally post sometime after midnight.

How long did u have to wait? Because i been waiting for more than 21 days
The IRS where’s my refund tool says it has been processing. It’s been in that same stage since February. Again, it has been longer than 21 days. IRS phone number is too busy to contact anyone. Not sure why it’s taking so long.
@Summer15, the IRS issues most refunds from e-filed returns in about 21 days, although some returns take more time to review. The IRS issues refunds, not TurboTax. This means that we can't say for sure why you haven’t received your refund if it's been longer than 21 days since you e-filed. The best thing and the only thing to do is to reach out to the IRS directly. Please see the FAQ link provided below for more information:
When will I get my IRS tax refund?
I can't even get ahold of the IRS. This is crazy. No one has any info about what is going and why it's taking so long. This is the year I needed the money like yesterday. I've been trying to call the IRS and u can't get through. My where's my refund has been on refund still being processed and will have a date when available for almost two weeks.
My taxes were accepted on Feb 11th and I still have nothing. I have a new baby and have to move I really need that money.how can it be taking so long when everyone else I know got there money already
@carlakuglin-ck Most tax returns process within 21 days. However, some may take longer. TurboTax does not receive any updates on the status of returns once the IRS accepts them. This means that we can't say for sure why you haven’t received your refund. If it's been longer than 21 days since you e-filed and your return was accepted, you'll have to speak directly to IRS to find out more about the delay. Please click here for more information.
I had a baby in July 2020 and still waiting for my refund when it was accepted on the 13th. I heard someone from a tax company say returns are held up if you are filing with a new dependent who you didn’t get the first two stimulus checks for. I asked TurboTax but no one could confirm or deny that.
