The IRS determines the eligibility and destination for EIP payments.  Initially, the IRS used taxpayer’s 2019 or 2020 tax return information to determine where stimulus payments would be deposited.  Unfortunately, when we shared the updated information you provided with the IRS, it was not in time for the IRS to use it for the initial payment processing.

Unfortunately, since the IRS is actually distributing the funds and TurboTax is not a bank, we are unable to see when they are deposited and cannot send you a notification.  IRS encourages taxpayers to check IRS Get My Payment to determine the status of their Stimulus payments.

IRS has agreed to distribute reissued payments to the updated accounts provided in the TurboTax Stimulus Portal, but your bank must first reject the initial payment back to the IRS.

If the IRS is unable to use your updated information that you provided in the TurboTax Stimulus Portal or that account is no longer active, they will send your stimulus payment by check to the address they have on file for you within 14 days after the original payment returns to the IRS. IRS encourages taxpayers to check IRS Get My Payment to determine the status of their Stimulus payments.

You will need the routing and account number for the card (not the numbers on the front of the card) and will enter this information for direct deposit.

Can I transfer money from my turbo tax prepaid card to my bank account

Yeah that’s true and it’s a real pain in the ass. I don’t know why you can’t transfer funds or why they put my tax return on a prepaid card to begin with when I have a bank account that I’ve been using for tax purposes for years. They really need to fix this. Plus the prepaid card takes $5 out a month for a “maintenance fee.” The whole thing is a scam.

Nope

For those who use prepaid debit cards all if them come with fees and strings so find an alternative like a real bank account.  Otherwise learn to live with the restrictions ... find out the correct direct deposit information for the card you have the USE them correctly.   For tax refunds you do not need to get a new card every year.   If you  have the TT fees withheld from the federal refund the have the refund deposited to the card or bank account you already have and use.

Better yet stop paying fees to file your tax return ... if you qualify use one of the 10 FREE FILE options but you must log in thru the IRS site :

https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free

For Filing Season 2021, you must make $72,000 or below to use one of the 10  IRS Free File partner offers.

If you choose the TT option then you can log in with your same user ID and agree to switch to the FREE FILE option then your progress will be preserved.
