After you file

The IRS determines the eligibility and destination for EIP payments.  Initially, the IRS used taxpayer’s 2019 or 2020 tax return information to determine where stimulus payments would be deposited.  Unfortunately, when we shared the updated information you provided with the IRS, it was not in time for the IRS to use it for the initial payment processing.

Unfortunately, since the IRS is actually distributing the funds and TurboTax is not a bank, we are unable to see when they are deposited and cannot send you a notification.  IRS encourages taxpayers to check IRS Get My Payment to determine the status of their Stimulus payments.

IRS has agreed to distribute reissued payments to the updated accounts provided in the TurboTax Stimulus Portal, but your bank must first reject the initial payment back to the IRS.

If the IRS is unable to use your updated information that you provided in the TurboTax Stimulus Portal or that account is no longer active, they will send your stimulus payment by check to the address they have on file for you within 14 days after the original payment returns to the IRS. IRS encourages taxpayers to check IRS Get My Payment to determine the status of their Stimulus payments.
