Been 5 weeks since I sent in my amended return and the IRS shows it still hasn't received it?

Even during “normal” times it takes about four months for the IRS to process an amended return.  During the pandemic and due to the severe backlog at the IRS it is taking much longer—six months or more for many amended returns.  Do not expect quick results from amending.  When the IRS issues a refund for an amended return it will be by check.  They do not make direct deposits for refunds for amended returns.  You can watch for information here:

February 2022? You are in for a rude awakening… most of us have been waiting since early-mid 20221. Good luck though. Maybe they will get to yours faster since it was an amended return for 2022

Nope I’m still waiting with no adjustments or movements at all since March 2020

I haven't gotten my amend return yet I done my amend on February 27 and it's still not showing nothing I don't know what is going on

I sent in my amended return April of 2020. They didn’t “receive” it until July 20, 2020. I still have no movement or adjustments. Good luck!

The IRS website https://www.irs.gov/faqs/irs-procedures/amended-returns-form-1040x/amended-returns-form-1040x-3 shows that we can call their number 866-464-2050 three weeks after filing the amended return. I've waited more than 3 weeks and tried to call this number. Ironically after input all my info during the call, they just hanged up on me without any message. Anyone successfully called this number and talk to a real person?

Amended return are taking many weeks to get keyed into the IRS system, and up to 6 months to be processed.

If you have any questions and need answers I would go to your local IRS office. I went there and finally found out they are mailing me my return. I’ve been waiting since July of 2020, so That’s what I suggest! Good luck everyone!

it could take the IRS 6 to 8 months to process an amended return. until it's processed there will be no info available.  even calling won't help until they input it into their system.  contact HR Block as to filing date since you used their app.

No, I did not print, sign and mail it. My Turbo Tax stated my amendment had been submitted.
