Ok; let us know what happens @Fred2335.
I’m done trying with turbo tax. But I do need to know if turbo tax filed my taxes for 2019. I have been sent a copy of my taxes for 2019.
I put 0 in for 2019 like you said. Now it is rejected again and it says. IND-032-04 spouse prior year pin or spouse AGI in return header must match the e,file database
You may check your e-file status by using this tool @ellab8501
Did you also enter 0 for spouse as you did for primary? @Fred2335.
No I didn’t because we are legally separated and waiting for my divorce to be finalized.
Please reach out to TurboTax Customer Support. Support will be able to confirm if your return was e-filed.
Please follow the instructions in this TurboTax FAQ to contact Customer Support: What is the TurboTax phone number?
Go to https://www.irs.gov/individuals/get-transcript, scroll down a bit and use the "Get Transcript Online."
Once you provide the identifying information, you can see the recent years' tax filings on record at the IRS. If it shows your 2019 return was filed, then it was sent in whether by TurboTax or you by mail. You can print a copy of the transcript for your record if you need it. Regardless, they have it on file.
If there's no record (might have a 'star' next to the filing year), then the system will respond with a form letter saying you didn't file a return for that year.
That's what happened to me when I checked because the IRS rejected our 2020 return. When I checked the transcript - no record of a return filed for 2019 - even though I have the TurboTax Electronic Postmark documentation and an email from Intuit/TurboTax saying the IRS had accepted my 2019 return last year.
The only solution I have to offer is what I did as trying to call the IRS help lines is absolutely ridiculous - it's like an electronic lottery to try and get in. And my guess is that they'll tell you to do something similar - and that's to mail in both your 2019 and 2020 tax year returns with the appropriate documentation from TurboTax about your filing information with a cover letter to explain why both returns are being mailed in. Also, when you print your returns, I'd suggest signing and dating both returns manually just to avoid any issues.
Even if they come back to say you filed your 2019 return late (simply because their systems can't handle the exception), you'll have all the documentation on file to point them to as well as your own copies (be sure to make a copy of the signature pages of both the 2019 and 2020 returns for your records).
Just my opinion and what we did to try to get this resolved - but adding to the 25+ million unprocessed returns pile that the IRS have/had when we sent them in.
And I have to say this forum technically works very poorly. My response above was to another member who was asking how they could check to see if their 2019 tax return had been filed.
Should simply be able to click on that specific item and reply to that item and not have it post at the end of all the other queries and responses.
Stupid design Intuit. Need to fix it.
I am having the same issue. Return is rejected due to AGI and PIN. I keep double checking the AGI from last year and it is correct. NOt sure what to do?
Please review this FAQ @elisemaza.
This happened to me in preparing my parents return... My dad died last year and was considered the "taxpayer"
Turbotax told me it was an IRS issue.. IRS said put in 6 zero's instead of one.. Didn't work. I finally decided to try switching taxpayer to Mom and spouse as Dad and that worked.... After further research, apparently known issue with Turbo Tax for years and they need to FIX....
None of those situations referenced in the link applied to my situation but using $0 as AGI did work.
Now what??
Help with fixing your rejected return has ben provided by clicking here.
We got an error code that stated the AGI and the self selected PIN was incorrect. The AGI was correct and the self selected PIN was the same as the previous tax year.
I went to the IRS website and applied for an IP PIN. It takes about 15 minutes online to go through that process. Once I received the IP PIN for both taxpayers , I updated the electronic filing by putting "IP PIN" in the search box. It provided a link "jump to IP PIN". Once the IRS IP PIN was added to the return I was able to successfully resubmit.
