Same Problem - Did a software update and it returned TurboTax is up to date. Tried retransmission same message and can not transmit.
Are you using TurboTax for Windows CD/Download?
This TurboTax Help addresses the issue.
I have the Mac version that I downloaded from Amazon.
I am using the MAC version I purchased through Amazon, my MacOS is the latest Catalina release, please help get this resolved. I paid for TurboTax for the Free federal efile and I also paid extra for my state efile and the software is telling me to print the returns and mail them in?????
Use Google Chrome as your default browser. Then it will work. You might have to clear the cache and cookies and restart. But then it should work. It did for us.
I was getting this as well and found the page below. It has separate links for NY and MA updates needed before transmitting the files. This worked for me in Mass.
I was hitting this when e-filing for Mass. on a windows box. Found this page which has separate links for a NY and a Mass. fix. Once installed, no more loop and forms submitted successfully...
Same here on Windows e-filing for Mass. Used the MA link on this page, which also has a separate link for NY, and was able to transmit files once installed...
I was stuck in this loop saying I needed an update to e-file, but found this page via Turbo Tax HELP which has links for an update for the Windows version. There is one for New York and one for Massachusetts so anyone filing for these states will probably need the associated update. No idea why these updates were not part of the auto-update that TurboTax does!
Some customers have experienced an update loop when attempting to e-file. When going through the file experience, you may receive a message that TurboTax needs to check for updates, after which TurboTax checks for update and none are found. When you continue through the filing process, TurboTax prompts you to check for updates again.
Solution
To fix this, re-install the latest updates.
You can now e-file your taxes.
Please click "TurboTax needs to check for Updates" loop when attempting to e-file on Mac to learn more.
I’m still having issues - 2/20. Asking me for an update. Anyone else?
Same - I have done the "hold option and click on TurboTax menu", uninstalled, reinstalled, and still can't e-file.
Adding to the chain, here. Still haven't been able to e-file my federal return.
We do apologize for the issue that you continue to experience. Please click What is the TurboTax phone number and choose the version of TurboTax that you are using to connect with the correct agent. Let the agent know that you are having problems with a known issue and that you need for them to first push the federal download and then the state download.
Adding to the list.
I'm getting the same errors as others are experiencing. Error as of 2/26/20.
"Validation failed: There is an update available for your program. Before you can e-file, you'll ned to get this update. To do this, go to the TurboTax menu and select "Check for Updates."
I have done this numerous times. There are no updates. I have tried the "Force Updates" process and restarted and all of that.
Nothing works.
