what does the email SPECIFICALLY state? I was on the phone with TT support yesterday on a separate matter and they said the download won't be available for another week or two - no firm date.
I did receive an email yesterday that my CD is being mailed and that I could download the software, but NO WHERE did it state that it is CURRENTLY available.

If you are an ADVANTAGE member you get free downloads with the CD purchase ... access them by logging into your advantage account ...
To access, sign in to your TurboTax Advantage account and select Downloads.
If you only ordered the CD you will need to wait for it to come as you need the license code. Shipping for those has not been posted yet ... usually around Thanksgiving.
that is interesting as a) I am Advantage, b) the CD is on its way via mail (I asked for it), c) the TT website notes the 2020 software I purchased and the license code, but the slot for the download is blank.
