Windows 10 - 32 bit OS

Bought Turbo Tax Premiere version, but only have Windows 10-32 bit OS. What are my options?

If your system allows, you can change your OS to Windows 10, 64 bit, or Windows 11.

[Edit Note, 2/27/24 at 21:28 Pacific.   And that would be a formidable task even if your system configuration allows it, since it would require reinstallation of the Windows OS, restoration of your data, and reinstalling other programs which might not run on 64-bit.  See @ Mike9241 's  comment below.]

Or you can get a refund for your software purchase.  The method depends on where you bought it, but here's one way:

Then you can either use Online TurboTax or a competitor's software--if the competitor allows 32-bit.  So check first.

You can *not* upgrade from 32-bit Windows to 64-bit. It has never been possible to change the "bitness" of any version of Windows from 32-bit to 64-bit or vice-versa.

The only way for you to go from 32-bit to 64-bit is by doing a clean installation of 64, and that means losing all your data on the drive. It also means reinstalling and reconfiguring all you programs.

Some programs may not even be installable on a 64-bit OS. I found this out the hard way when I upgraded my OS.

Mike is correct.  It would take reinstallation if one decided to switch the OS to 64-bit Windows, so you would need to weigh the ramifications of that move carefully.   And as he said, you would also need to consider the effect on your current data and your other current applications that might not be able to reinstall and run on a 64-bit system.    It sounds like a terrible amount of work just to be able to run desktop TurboTax. 

So Online TurboTax or a competitor's product (if it runs on 32-bit) would be the simpler approach.
