There is a fee for your federal return and a fee for your state return.
If you chose to have your fees deducted from your refund, there is a refund processing fee.
If you feel your fees are too high, please click here to read how you can reduce your fees.
I was charged the fee three times and I’m getting an email saying I’m late for a payment when I already paid my fees I have the receipts of me already paying and not having online support is kinda frustrating
I was charged 3 times for the e-filing fee when the FEDERAL filing fee is FREE AND non taxable, and state filing is 39$. What a joke
@BradyBrutalize Looks pretty clear. You must have used Deluxe. Deluxe is $39 for federal and state is a separate $39. Then to have the fees deducted from your federal refund is an EXTRA $39 Pay with Refund service charge which you could have avoided by paying upfront with a credit card.
The federal and state fees are to prepare the returns whether you efile or print and mail. Efiling is free and included. Only the Free Edition is free for Federal (and state).
See all the fees here,
When filling out qualifying questions on tax breaks, it specifies and asks if the user has contributed to a retirement plan. If so then that user gets 45$ added to their refund.
now with how this questionnaire is set up, if you continue after qualifying for said “tax break”, it displays that “In order to receive the 45$ tax break that the User “must” agree to use the deluxe version (not the free version) of TurboTax. Aka kiss whatever tax break goodbye, and pay 3 times that instead. There is NO way to go back and change the previously answered information on tax breaks to avoid the retirement tax break and therefore continue using the free version. And save over 100$
I restarted my tax return enough times to know when it’s all a marketing ploy to generate revenue for this company.
I use the MINT app. It’s awesome.
this years pre-ordained questionnaires concerning tax breaks on citizens who have already contributed to a retirement plan have been rigged to the point where in order to even inform This company how unjustifiable it is, I need to submit the truth in a group forum. Where everything said after this post will appear to be my problem, and my fault.
I’ve used TurboTax for years.
I understand you have to make a profit.
but it shouldn’t be made by using the “stress free program”, against its own consumers.
there is no remedy, and no way to rectify what the system was already designed to do.
Don’t make it the consumers problem, when IT and algorithms are designed solely to profit off us consumers.
I hate to sound rude but I’m just being honest.
My federal refund is non taxable.
it should be free to file my federal tax refund. Since that is what I started doing after cooking the free version. Now state on the other hand, I understand, and don’t mind paying 39$ to process. But triple charging me is not fair, right, and is in fact illegal.
Misrepresentation
Thank you for sharing the specific misrepresentations of TURBOTAX. Last season I was charged $319 THREE TIMES! Almost $1000?? I am extremely disappointed and feel foolish for trusting this unethical company. I recommended this TurboTax to several friends to which I must now inform them of the excessive & underhanded designs of cheating individuals of their money. We get taxed @ every turn in this society and now this company? Unreal.
I didn’t realize this till I looked at my account which I didn’t happen to do last year. I am extremely upset & disappointed that this company has completely taken advantage of people through small print. I am compelled to blog about this in attempt to alert people to find an individual or a more upfront tax group to file their taxes through.
To charge people THIS MUCH MONEY through unclear or hidden fees is unethical. TurboTax is underhanded and out right deceitful. I would rather pay an accountant who does taxes as a side-hustle than continue to use this company. I will update this post after speaking to a TurboTax representative.
I will try the mint.com app this tax season. Thank you for the recommendation
