Why is TurboTax not accurate with Hawaii State returns? For the third year in a row, it has miscalculated my standard deduction, resulting in the need to pay more taxes

For three years now, the State of Hawaii Dept. of Taxation has sent me forms showing that my taxes--which were calculated by TurboTax after the federal return was completed--required adjustment.  They are billing me additional money since the return needed adjustment for 4 reasons:  1) the standard deduction had to be adjusted to the maximum allowed amount according to my filing & dependent status; 2) the "credit forward" claimed does not match the amount available; 3) total payments were computed in error; and 4) the amount I owe is computed in error.  I thought TurboTax guaranteed the accuracy of its calculations.  And how could it miss on the amount of the standard deduction?  I will, of course, pay the Hawaii DoTax bill.  What recourse do I have with TurboTax, and what assurance do I have that this will not happen for the 4th year in a row next tax season?

Any calculation errors on the part of TurboTax are covered under the Accurate Calculation Guarantee.  TurboTax will pay any penalties and/or interest due to a calculation error but not any taxes owed.  The Guarantee does not cover any user entry errors or omissions.

This error (missing the standard deduction) has happened several years in a row.  Will TurboTax fix it?  If not, why not?

I doubt this is a true error in the program since those are fixed asap so if this has been an error for you for many years I would suspect it is a data entry error by the user ... talk to TT support and see where you are making the error...

Is not the standard deduction an automatically-filled value, taking the personal information from the Federal return and applying it to the State return?  In the Federal return, TurboTax determines whether to take the standard deduction, based on my personal situation and deductible expenses.  In the State return, the deduction is also determined by TurboTax. This is *not* a user data entry error.

I'm new to Turbotax--only used it for the last few years. I was about to send in my 2021 Hawaii State tax and noticed an error.  Form N-11, Worksheet A-4, Line 18 says to "Add lines 15 through 17".  I had only one entry and it was for Line 15.  Somehow, Line 18 has a number $5017 less than Line 15!  It should have been simple addition! (I just looked at my 2020 form and Line 18 is $8908 less than Line 15!)  I guess no one from Turbotax/Intuit bothers reading this Blog!

According to the N-11 Instructions, the sum may be altered by a number of factors:

• Your cash contributions, or contributions of ordinary income property, are more than 30% of your Hawaii adjusted gross income.

• Your gifts of capital gain property are more than 20% of your Hawaii adjusted gross income.

• You gave gifts of property that increased in value, or gave gifts of the use of property

Do any of those apply to you?

If not, what are the amounts on your federal Schedule A, lines 11 through 14, as well as your federal AGI (line 11 on form 1040) and your Hawaii AGI (line 20 on form N-11)?
