Why does turbo Tax keep telling me i have to upgrade to deluxe for a foreign account. I don't have one.

Turbo tax is insisting I upgrade because I 'have a foreign account' when I do not have a foreign account. I have gone back and checked my answers and it won't change.

I would check in "Forms" view for Form 1116 and see if any numbers are filled in there, then try to trace them back.  Also you could check Schedule A line6.

Could you have imported some investment income that included some foreign income?

If you received interest or dividends, you may have checked the box asking whether you had a financial interest in or signature authority over a foreign financial account.

This question only comes up once and there is no way to return to it, except by deleting your interest and dividend info.

1. Tap Tax Tools in the left column
2. Then Tools
3. Select Delete a Form
4. Delete Schedule B
5. Select Continue With My Return at the bottom
6. Re-enter your interest and dividends
7. Continue until you see Did you own or control a foreign bank account, trust or financial asset in 2021?
8. Say no
