I have been retired for 3 years. I was asked to come back for just a few days to help train a 2nd person who just was hired into my old position as the 1st individual quit. I agreed to work on a contract basis and knew that I'd get a Form 1099-Misc for 2017. What I didn't expect was for Turbo Tax to require me to do a Schedule C. I feel like I am not being truthful by filling this form out just as if I have some sort of business when in fact, I don't. Please help!!!

You do not have to do all that, unless you have expenses you want to claim against the 1099.
Go to the search box type: 1099-misc
Select 1099-misc
A Jump To option is available-click
This will take you to the section to enter your 1099-misc.
You will still have to answer some questions, and you probably will need to pay self-employment tax on the amount.
