You received an email from TurboTax for the rejected tax return.  What does it say?

I received the same thing when doing my 2025 Federal return.  I signed onto the Federal IRS website to view my 2024 return and it hasn't been uploaded by the IRS yet.  Guess the Federal workers are overworked. LOL.

I resolved the issue by making my AGI "0" and my efile was accepted.  I believe the IRS website is where the validation is occurring so even though the AGI from last year is correct there is nothing to compare it to.

Wher we did you change uour AGI to "0", on your 2024 or 2025 return?

On my 2025 return it carries over your 2024 AGI if you used TurboTax for your 2024 return. I simply overwrite that value and made it 0.00 and my efiling was accepted by the IRS. TurboTax is correct but the issue is on the IRS side where they haven't uploaded your 2024 return so there is nothing to compare to.

I solved this problem in my case - but it took some detective work.  I noticed the pre-filled in prior year AGI from TurboTax was incorrect. Even though I uploaded the prior year to read automatically, the program didn't show these figures.  My error recommendation after receiving REJECTED notice was to verify my AGI.  I typed in the correct AGI two more times and both times again - the return was rejected. I created an ID.me account and verified the AGI I thought was correct, was actually correct.  It was.

So.... I figured the IRS/Turbotax communication for the e-submission ID verification step must be coming from somewhere else in theTurboTax records (other than where you verify/correct/ fill it on at the end just before submission). Here is what fixed it and next time I tried, my return was ACCEPTED.

1) Switch to FORMS view.

2) Select Tax History (left hand side near the bottom of the list of forms on your return)

3) Compare the 2024 column values with your records for 2024.  Mine had at least 4 numbers incorrect in the 2024 column, including AGI.

4) If AGI and any other lines need to be corrected from what TurboTax filled in automatically, use the small + plus icon to the left of the box you are correcting, although typing directly over the incorrect value may work also.  Hit SAVE after each change to the Tax History form.

5) Switch back to Step-by-step view to go through the e-file steps, double checking each and every entry.

6) WHEN I RETURNED TO E-FILE step-by-step, the first time after making the corrections to the Tax History page, the incorrect AGI still prepopulated the final verification box. I typed in the correct AGI and this time it REMAINED CORRECT, and matched the manually-updated Tax History form, regardless of how many times I went back and forth.

7) Within 30 minutes, my return was ACCEPTED!

I hope this helps someone.
