Using the TurboTax online editions you can only complete and file one tax return per account and User ID. If you want to complete another tax return using the online editions you will need to create a new account with a new User ID.
That is incorrect. I purchase turbo tax premiere from Amazon every year and file 3 returns using the same account. My dad’s return was the first one I did and couldn’t not efile it. It is definitely a Turbo tax issue.
@donnkirsch Your post showed you are using the TurboTax Free Edition Online.
If you actually purchased the TurboTax desktop Premier edition for tax year 2024, then you should have installed the software on your personal computer and entered the license code during installation. Did you do this?
See this TurboTax support FAQ for installing the TurboTax desktop software with a license code - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/license-information/install-turbotax-cd-...
Yes I did. I had no trouble preparing and efiling my spouses return after preparing my dads. It obviously had to do with my parents being reported as deceased.
I'm having the exact same problem. I efiled my own return without any problem. I'm trying to efile my parents return, and my father passed away last year. TurboTax says I can't efile their return because I'm missing a PIN or DOB, even though both are clearly entered. It seems like Turbo Tax has a problem with pin number for deceased persons.
I reported this to TT and they told me to clear my cache, which obviously was not the problem. It’s obviously a TT issue and not a user issue so why aren’t they fixing it?
What is the exact reject message you are getting? @Sharonosk @donnkirsch
Has this issue been fixed? Father died in mid January 2024 and we never received a PIN for 2024 from the IRS. Have entered his birthdate and run into exact same problem. TT will not move forward and let me e-file.
If you have your father's 2023 return, you can enter his AGI instead of a PIN. The IRS requires either/or for identification.
If he used TurboTax in 2023, and you transferred his 2023 return, the PIN he used last year will already be filled in.
Not sure why DOB would be an issue, if it's correct in the Personal Info section. Did you indicate you're filing for a deceased person? What is the DOB error message?
If you're using TurboTax Online, clear your Cache and Cookies before Efiling again.
Sorry for your loss.
