Where and how should I claim farm rent reported on a 1099-misc for a family farm my brother and I own. we do not operate the farm and lease the land to a local farmer.

The farm is located in the state of Georgia and I am currently active duty military living in California, but a Texas Resident for tax purposes.  Are there any additional state tax implication I should be concerned with.

Report your 1099-misc, with an amount in box 1, under Rental Properties and Royalties (schedule E). Be sure to include your expenses associated with this farm land rental. Do not confuse your cash paid rental (schedule E) and "Farm Rental Income and Expenses (form 4835)", this section is only for when you receive a share of the crop raised as rental income. TT Premier online version supports both Rental Properties and Royalties (schedule E) and Farm Rental Income and Expenses (form 4835).

I'm not real familiar with state income taxes but I believe after you do your federal, TurboTax will transfer all necessary state income to your state tax return automatically. I believe you will use a non-resident Georgia State.
