Thank you for the response, but, unfortunately, the procedure outlined does not solve the issue. The program still fails to apply updates.

Error 1327 when installing or updating TurboTax
Every year I get this error! Each of the past 2 years, several months after filing my taxes I have wanted to open Turbo Tax to run some additional federal scenarios. Both years the software insists on "updating" and then produces the error 1310. Last year I went through a lot of extra work to reinstall TT. I might do it again to fix the problem again but I cannot believe that TT has not fixed this problem -- many people have error 1310! The only clue I will give is that I installed the software in an alternate location (D: drive instead of C: drive). I probably will use some other software next year. TT has failed me.
@ webweweave When TurboTax is installed on a drive other than the recommended one, it can make troubleshooting more difficult.
I don't know if it will help, but here are some things I'd try while you wait for any other suggestions. Maybe you already did, but I have no way to know.
If using Windows, did you try a manual update?
Also, this past week was Windows update week. If you're using Windows and got last week's updates, be sure that all your current Windows updates have finished installing before running the manual update. Sometimes downloaded but incompletely-installed Windows updates will be lingering in the background.
That's actually the problem and the fix for the problem. For two years in a row now I've slapped my forehead and told myself "You needed to install on the Windows C: drive!" Once I uninstall from D: and reinstall on C: the problem goes away.
This happens every year for the last 5 years. You would think by now they would resolve it by now but I guess not. Its happening to me right now. And its going to happen next year and the year after that. The only thing that resolves this problem it to uninstall and re-install. Maybe some year they can actually do something about it?
@jjevans55 , I fixed the update failing problem by always installing TurboTax on my C: drive. Updates never worked when I installed it on my D: drive. There's something in the program that expects it to be on the C: drive, though they never tell you that. I do wish it worked on other drives. I really don't want it on my C: drive but if I want it to work, that's where I have to have it.
There is a way to manually update your TurboTax software. Per TurboTax, "If you're having trouble updating your TurboTax 2024 for Windows Individual software using the "Check for Updates" method, here are instructions for how you can get the latest federal program update:
See the link below:
@BrittanyS When I had it on my D: drive and updated it manually, it would update the main (federal) program, but a manual update doesn't update the state portion of the program. It tells you so when you do the manual update.
