  3. Click on “Jump to 1099-R”

  5. Answer "Yes" to the "Have you ever taken a disaster distribution before 2022?" screen
  6. Answer "No" to "Did You take a distribution in 2021 due to a non-covid disaster?"
  7. Answer "Yes" to "Did you take a 2020 Qualified Disaster Distribution?"
  8. Check the box next to "If this was a Coronavirus-related distribution reported in 2020 check here", enter your information from your 2021 Form 9815-F, and then continue.

Please verify you don't have any entry on line C of Form 8915-F. If you do then please see the two options below to fix this.

Please try these steps to fix the rejection issue and delete the line C entry (if you only had the Covid Distribution):

  1. Login to your TurboTax Account
  2. Click on the "Search" on the top and type “1099-R”
  3. Click on “Jump to 1099-R”
  4. If you do not have any 2022 1099-R answer "No" to "Did you get a 1099-R in 2022?" (If you have any other 1099-R then enter all 1099-R and after entering your last 1099-R click "Continue" on the “Review your 1099-R info” screen)
  5. Answer "Yes" to the "Have you ever taken a disaster distribution before 2022?" screen
  6. Answer "Yes" to "Did you take a 2020 Qualified Disaster Distribution?"
  7. Uncheck the box next to "If this was a Coronavirus-related distribution reported in 2020 check here" and click continue
  8. On the "Which disaster affected you in 2020?" screen select the blank entry (click on it) and click "continue"
  9. Go through all the question
  10. On the Income & Wage screen click "Edit" next to "IRA, 401(k), Pension Plan Withdrawals (1099-R)"
  11. Click "Continue" on the “Review your 1099-R info” screen
  12. Answer "Yes" to "Did you take a 2020 Qualified Disaster Distribution?"
  13. Then recheck the box next to "If this was a Coronavirus-related distribution reported in 2020 check here", enter your information from your 2021 Form 9815-F, and then continue.

Another option is to delete both "Form 8915-F" and "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr" and then go back to the retirement section and reenter the information:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the left menu, select "Tax Tools" and then "Tools".
  3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, select "Delete a form".
  4. Select "Delete" next to "Form 8915-F" and "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr" and follow the instructions.
  5. Click on the "Search" on the top and type “1099-R”
  6. Click on “Jump to 1099-R”
  7. If you do not have any 2022 1099-R answer "No" to "Did you get a 1099-R in 2022?" (If you have any other 1099-R then enter all 1099-R and after entering your last 1099-R click "Continue" on the “Review your 1099-R info” screen)
  8. Answer "Yes" to the "Have you ever taken a disaster distribution before 2022?" screen
  9. Answer "Yes" to "Did you take a 2020 Qualified Disaster Distribution?"
  10. Check the box next to "If this was a Coronavirus-related distribution reported in 2020 check here", enter your information from your 2021 Form 9815-F, and then continue.

When is 8915-f going to be available?

It is now March 29, 2023 and i am still getting this message that this form is not ready.  I have double checked to ensure that my turbotax is up to date and tried the suggestion of deleting this form.  I still get the same error message.  I have been using turbotax for about 20 years and never felt more stressed about filing my taxes.  What the heck is going on???

When is 8915-f going to be available?

@nchaimang The 2022 Form 8915-F was available in TurboTax on March 9, 2023.  However, it can only be used to report a 2020 disaster distribution or a Coronavirus related distribution in 2020.

It currently cannot be used to report a 2021 or 2022 disaster distribution.

Which year do you need to report a disaster distribution on a Form 1099-R?

When is 8915-f going to be available?

This level of service is unacceptable. I am so frustrated with TurboTax because of this specific situation I will never use your products again.

When is 8915-f going to be available?

received in 2022 for a disaster in 2021 or 2022. I didn't get anything though

When is 8915-f going to be available?

Untrue. I used the form to file in 2021 with a 2020 distribution. My 2021 return was accepted and processed by the federal government with no issues. Not so much for 2022. It’s obvious the TurboTax “experts” don’t actually know what’s going on.

When is 8915-f going to be available?

it says I received disaster relief in 2022 but I never did, and answered the questions accordingly I don't see why I am getting this error

If you didn't take any disaster distribution in 2022 and prior years then you need to delete the "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distribution and Repayment Worksheet"  (8915E wks).

Please follow these steps in TurboTax Desktop:

  1. Switch to Forms mode on the top
  2. Scroll down and select "8915E wks"
  3. Click "delete" and confirm the deletion
  4. Switch to Step-by-Step and run the smart check again (don't go back to the retirement section)

Please follow these steps in TurboTax Online:

  1. Open or continue your return in TurboTax.
  2. In the left menu, select "Tax Tools" and then "Tools".
  3. In the pop-up window Tool Center, select "Delete a form".
  4. Select "Delete" next to "Qualified 2020 Disaster Retirement Distr" and follow the instructions.
  5. Don't go back to the retirement section
