When will TurboTax have the 8915-f available???? It was released but there is still no update in the software for it.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
As of now Form 8915-F is scheduled to be ready on 3/24/2022. Please see IRS forms availability table for TurboTax individual (personal) tax products for additional information and any changes.
Once the section is available follow these steps to report any further tax to be paid or any repayment:
What if you paid all taxes on it in 2020 and did not make any more distributions or any repayments in 2021-- why do i still need to wait for this form?
No, if you paid all of the taxes on your 2020 distribution, you do not need Form 8915-F.
If you are getting a message that you have to wait for Form 8915-F and you do not need to file it, you can delete it from your tax return.
If you are using TurboTax Online:
If you are the Desktop version (disc or download):
TaxAct 2021 had this form available for use/filing, three weeks ago. TurboTax is way behind the competition. TurboTax needs to make extreme changes in administration/programming if they are to maintain their predominant position in tax filing for individuals. I will certainly continue to use TaxAct 2021 even though it's not at user friendly as TurboTax. But a little thought and TaxAct is good enough.
After you enter yes to distributions prior to 2021 it then does not recalculate your distribution to 1/3 of 2020. Federal tax due does not change or update in TurboTax?
I am having this same issue and cannot find online help from turbotax!
When I'm attempting to enter my disaster reason, Covid-19 is not an option from the drop down menu. I was specifically told it would be available for use for this purpose!
I am having the same issue as well

If you had a Covid-19 related distribution in 2020 and selected to spread the distribution over 3 years -
Answer No when asked if you received a Form 1099-R in 2021, if you did not receive the form
Answer Yes when asked if you took a disaster distribution
Answer Yes when asked if you took a Qualified 2020 Disaster Distribution
Check the box that this was a Coronavirus-related distribution reported in 2020
If the 2020 distribution was from an account that was Not an IRA
2020 Form 8915E Line 9 - Enter 1/3 of the amount from the 2020 distribution in both boxes for Line 9
If the 2020 distribution was from an IRA account
2020 Form 8915E Line 17 - Enter 1/3 of the amount from the 2020 distribution in both boxes for Line 17
The 1/3 of the amount from the 2020 distribution will be entered on the 2021 Form 1040 Line 4b if from an IRA or on Line 5b if from a retirement plan other than an IRA
This is where I'm stuck. I tried yesterday, March 26th, and after checking the Covid checkbox, and Yes to Disaster Distribution on 2020, etc. It does not recalculate the taxes due. No place to enter the 1/3 amount also. I did it a few times in case I missed something to no avail. Seems like this section is sort of half baked for now.

Go back to the Retirement Income section for a Form 1099-R and review your answers.

I just did mine, it worked. The key is to enter 1/3 of the amount from the 2020 distribution in both boxes for Line 17.
I cannot find the 8915 F form online. It is asking me to review my 1099 R. Do I just delete this since I did not receive a 1099 R form this year? How do I get to the 8915 F form? I took out for Covid and am wanting to pay the 1/3 for this year but don't know where to start!
