I don't have a w2 this year because i was unemployed and didn't get any unemployment benifits. But I cashed bonds this year and have a 1099-int. How would one go about it.
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
If you did not receive a W-2 then just skip the W-2 section.
To report interest income received -
Click on Federal Taxes (Personal using Home & Business)
Click on Wages and Income (Personal Income using Home & Business)
Click on I'll choose what I work on
Under Interest and Dividends
On Interest on 1099-INT, click on the start or update button
Since you did not have a W-2, you shouldn't enter anything in the W-2 section. You can navigate to the Investment and Savings section of Wages & Income.
If you are not a dependent of someone else, you may not have to file a return if your interest was under $15,750 (check your state's minimum threshold for filing as well). See Do I need to file a federal return this year? for more information.
