I'm glad I found this thread to confirm that it's not just me... USAA was an insanely great company for the 15+ years I've been a customer and then six months ago they decided to do a 180 and become a terrible company. It's disappointing. They ruined what used to be great credit card rewards, their insurance premia went sideways, their basic banking accounts don't keep up with market interest rates.
I'm migrating pretty much everything to Allstate for insurance and CapitalOne for banking. Better bundle rates with Allstate, better credit card rewards and yields on savings that actually make it better to put your money there than under a mattress. So long USAA - it was good while it lasted.
I've tested two Plaid-based platforms, Mint and SoFi. Neither of these two pickup the USAA credit card. Meanwhile USAA's MX-based service fails to link to NFCU.
Why the industry has failed to settle on consistent aggregation protocols is just beyond me.
I might've missed it in this long thread, but why does Mint display some USAA accounts and not all? Do some accounts use screen scraping and others the API platform? I have multiple USAA accounts and Mint only seems to have issues displaying only one credit card account (ironically, the main one I use). I've moved onto a different card with a different company. Really hope this gets resolved soon. On a side note: thank you everyone that have done the leg work with contacting both Mint and USAA to give us updates.
It's almost December - sounds like no fix coming and it's all on USAA's side. Looks like only solution is to dump the USAA credit card? Annoying.
I think you raise the key point. It would be so helpful if Plaid/Yodlee/MX were to directly address where these failures occur. Help us help them help us.
What will you switch to?
i've been holding out and holding out and holding out, hoping this would get straightened out sooner rather than later. i use(d) my usaa amex exclusively for all purchases. but time to move on i'm afraid. have finally switched everything to my visa card from another bank. if this problem ever gets fixed perhaps i'll switch it back. we'll see. super annoying either way.
Has anyone else had a problem with checking and savings transactions not importing as well? All the questions I'm seeing are regarding credit accounts
Just to confirm my issue is the same as everyone else's.
If I search my transactions by Tags, it will show the missing historical transactions that were tagged with the selected Tag.
So, the data is somehow still there in Mint.
Also, can anyone explain how Mint "stores" data? I cannot imagine that it retrieves ALL transactions each time it connects. Also, I have old, closed accounts in Mint and I can still see the old transactions.
So there has to be something on Mint's end (at least blocking all of our past transactions).
@Jpcooper I don't believe you are reporting the same thing. This issue is credit card transactions are not retrieved by Mint from USAA after the login is authenticated. Due to a change USAA made to there website for credit card data.
The question for how Mint retrieves data is probably a different topic than this one.
Having USAA Visa credit card connectivity problems with mint not updating USAA credit card transactions. It's been 6 weeks or more and Mint keeps saying they are working on it. Causing big problems for me. What's the answer Mint?
I got the same answer...it's been 6 weeks or more now
Mint is working to fix a problem USAA created back in September. USAA made changes to the credit card website which broke Mint and other financial tools from being able to retrieve credit card transaction data. USAA didn't tell the customers of the planned change and they didn't let any of the financial tools l know they were making changes that would break their ability to retrieve USAA credit card data. So much for ITIL compliance.
Why is everyone pinning this on Mint? USAA broke the connectivity and didn't communicate the planned change.
I just heard from USAA via chat functionality (12/01):
Recent digital updates to USAA.com and Mobile App for Credit Cards may impact the MINT app connectivity. This temporary situation is due to recent credit card page updates and their compatibility with MINT.
The Mint application uses a technology called screen scraping to use a Member’s USAA username and password to login to usaa.com and gather the data needed to power the application. Updates made to usaa.com can break the functionality of the screen scraping capability of Mint. USAA does not support screen scraping as a method for sharing data with applications.
Mint will need to update their application to include the changes made to usaa.com to resume collecting the Member’s data. Members can contact Intuit (parent company of Mint) to request more information as to when connectivity to your data will be restored.
Yes, I heard the same about scraping but isn’t that what all these apps do? If not, did USAA state what methods they do support for these apps?
Also, Mint shared with me that the date to have this corrected on their end is December 17th but most times, they said, it’s sooner.
