Update is necessary before transmitting return

Try updating again - I was on line with support for 30 minutes and finally had an update load and was able to transmit successfully.

Update is necessary before transmitting return

Hi,

I have contacted customer service 3 times regarding transmitting my Michigan return. I did not receive any help, I cannot transmit, and now I am out the 19.99 for transmitting fee. As a long time user and advocate, I am definitely done!!!!!

FYI, I have done everything that turbo tax has suggested-updates, cookies etc. I fell like the people I am talking to do not know anything and are just guessing.

Same with me.  Never again will I purchase Turbo Tax.  Credit Karma is free and doesn't have this issue.

Update is necessary before transmitting return

Hi,

I tried that several times, I also uninstalled and re-installed turbo tax. Nothing worked. I am now out 19.99 because turbo tax cannot refund me for the service they did not provide. Thansk anyway

Update is necessary before transmitting return

could you provide the update that you used?

Update is necessary before transmitting return

I contacted my bank and filed a claim to have my $19.99 charge reversed. Since service was not rendered, my bank provided a temporary credit while they investigate the charge with Turbo Tax.

Update is necessary before transmitting return

File a claim with your bank or credit card. They will credit you $19.99 due to services not being rendered.

Update is necessary before transmitting return

I had a similar problem and it ended up being that my CD was corrupt. After several uninstalls and re-installs from the CD, I uninstalled and downloaded turbo tax from the website and installed that....and that finally worked.

Update is necessary before transmitting return

Hi,

I did the same thing yesterday.

Update is necessary before transmitting return

My original was a download, not a CD. Thanks for the advice though

Update is necessary before transmitting return

I give up.  I'm e-filing directly with the IRS plus my state and asking for a refund  from TurboTax on the state filing fee.  I've used TurboTax for 20+ years and had no problems until now.  I'll skip purchasing TurboTax next year and e-file directly again regardless of how user-unfriendly it is.

I'm also posting something similar to this on costco.com.

Update is necessary before transmitting return

I still cannot transmit Illinois taxes electronically either.  I have worked with tech support and did everything possible but still get "Update is necessary before transmitting return".  Federal filed fine.  It is now March 1st and can't file Illinois taxes.  So frustrating!
