Hi @EbonyA ,
yes using E*Trade securities to login.
Attached screenshot for your reference from Turbo Tax desktop software
Thank you for providing the screenshot; have you double checked with E*Trade to ensure that your forms are currently available for import? if not, I would suggest giving that a try. If you find that this is not the source of the issue, you may contact our support team via phone for further assistance, contact details can be found here. Also just a general fyi as it pertains to partner imports, if you have a large amount of transactions, this usually poses issues. You may review more details on that here @SG726.
I get the exact same error that someone posted above and I use desktop version of turbo tax. Can you please take the screenshot and raise it with your tech team and get back after it is fixed. if Intuit software can't handle a PDF file of 250 KB size then it is only a matter of time before someone else takes all your business away.. very first issue which your tech team should be fixing.. @EbonyA
Bob don't you just love getting the exact same scripted questions? As if we are capable of day trading stocks, but cant click the right button on a computer....
Since we can't see your tax return in this forum, we suggest entering a Summary if you are having issues importing (only 2 lines of entry).
OR, close TurboTax, clear your Cache and Cookies and revisit the section.
OR, get with TurboTax Support (they can see your return).
Most users are able to import successfully.
Hi Guys,
last year, i used s solution from here: https://www.investotek.com/
I will use the same thing for this year.
That sounds like a smooth solution. One of the benefits is that it appears to work directly with paper statements or their pdf equivalents. Thus no direct interaction between two frenemy company softwares--brokers and bankers are famous for guarding their data security, not so much for sharing their data. And @binyylee-yahoo-c has been using it successfully for a while! If people are interested, perhaps @binyylee-yahoo-c could even provide detailed steps about his process.
For me, I have had good success with my choice of two approaches:
1) Direct import when it works.
2) Summaries with supporting data when it doesn't work or I want to file sooner.
And as always, check your data once it is input--either using hashes--grouped sums that confirm everything in the group is fine, or line by line. My experience is that from time to time I need to make manual adjustments. If the IRS audits my return (with their computers, easy schmeezy), I want those numbers to line up so they say the equivalent of, "Move along. There is nothing to see here."
checked with e*trade, they have mentioned that, it is known issue with Turbo tax software.
Turbo tax can't handle large number of transactions download.
As some one suggested earlier, Turbo Tax needs to fix their product and train EXPERT support teams well to convey the message properly with customers.
For now I will be looking at alternate solutions suggested across than relying on Turbo tax import functionality to save my time and file taxes on time.
Same problem as described above. 150 pages of trades with many wash sales that won't download from E*trade.
TT should provide some diagnostics to the user what the issue actually IS and not just that it CAN'T. ie Can't connect to Etrade server, file too large, too many entries etc. And show the website address of the stock broker.
So far all I see from INTUIT is boilerplate stuff that does not address the issue.
Unable to import from E*Trade, says "there isn't any tax-related info to import right now" Fail to import tax form from e-trade using turbotax 2021
If are trying to import stock information from your E*Trade Brokerage account and you are recieving the following error message after attempting to import from E*Trade that states: "This import was unsucessful.
There isn't any tax related info to import right now. No problem we will help you enter the information and continue with your .... "
The problem is that in the search bar you have selected Morgan Stanley - E*Trade BANK the import will fail. It ONLY works if you type in the Import search bar - "E*Trade Securities" - this is the selection you want and it prompt you to imput your Username and Password.
This is because the information is attempting to import BANK info when you are trying to get Turbox to import your Securities (Stock) 1099-B TAX INFO!
Once you type: "E*Trade Securities" into the search bar it will then allow you to chose what documents you wish to import.
Took me a few times before I finally figured it out. Hope this helps!
@Ishouldgetpaidtotroubleshoot - Sorry, No reason to pay you as this does not resolve the problem. The problem is TurboTax does not allow to import transaction is the count is more than 3000 even in the desktop software (Online the record count limit is 500 if not mistaken). Turbotax team even admitted to me this and infact has refunded me dollars for the product bought. Thanks though for your effort.
Still Cannot IMport from Etrade --- Turbotax has got to fix or I wont use TT for first time in 15 years
What is the error that you are receiving specifically when attempting the import @brantelrod.
I have been using turbo tax for 20+ years and never had this much problem or this much trouble getting help so thanks for helping ....
I import my other acccounts from morgan stanley, tr price, vanguard with no problems... When I attempt to import from etrade ( and yes I am using correct password) :
wrror = import was unsucessful -------- There isn't any tax-related info to import right now ....." I downloaded my 1099 from etrade so i know it exsists -- also called etrade and they was the info is there .... Multiple folks complain about same problem and ive never found a solution posted by turbotax.....
Have you tried importing from E*Trade Bank instead of E*Trade Securities? Many users have found success with importing from E*Trade that way.
For additional information, please see
What if I can't import my 1099?
