I am getting the same error and I am using the Desktop version.
facing same issue. Downloaded latest version TT Premier purchased from Costco. Unable to import transactions from eTrade I have around 260 pages of transactions which can't be entered manually.
Turbo Tax do you have any update on this issue or should we request for refund from Costco
If you have reviewed the FAQ's provided above regarding inability to import 1099's and your issue persists, please contact support via phone. This is the best means for obtaining help with this specific type of issue @ameykulkarni @SG726.
FAQ's mention an unrealistic approach of manually entering which does not solve the purpose. It will be better if Turbotax solves the actual problem.
I'm still having issue. my etrade document is 226 pdf pages. It tries for about 20 seconds, then get the error message. Clearly an issue with TurboTax.
If you are trying to enter a large number of transactions, please click here for more assistance with getting this done successfully.
See @DavidD66 for a better way to import very large numbers of transactions.
1) If you have thousands of tax transactions, you should not attempt to list them all individually. Rather you will need to enter summary transactions and send in supporting documentation. If you went to a professional tax preparer, this is exactly what we/they do. Think of it like keeping your business books, then entering summary entries for expense categories with backup documentation for how you got the numbers.
2) It is not uncommon for brokerages to issue the tax forms, which they are required to do by certain deadlines, before they operationalize the links to tax software like TT, which is strictly a courtesy. (They also sometimes make the forms available online and send them out in the mail at different times.)
A TT employee has already posted in this thread how to do #1 if you want more info on how this works.
yes.. number of transactions seems to be the issue. I have 80pages worth of transactions in my 1099-B and get this frustrating error.. Intuit , please fix this ASAP and stop proposing stone age mailing solutions as alternatives. OR give me a refund.. I will take my business else where. AND i use the desktop version..
I think you are right, @bob_is_good If you were expecting TT to import 80 pages of transactions, you should probably try for a refund.
Either way, I think you need to use summary transactions and mail in the supporting documentation. That's what I would do if I were assisting you as a professional tax payer.
Unfortunately, I don't know the exact limits of the import, so if someone else does, perhaps they will give both of us more information on that, but generally I'm guessing if you're over 500 transactions, an automatic import is probably not a good idea.
Also, we should always check every import for accuracy and inclusion. Checking 80 pages of transactions is not my idea of a good time ;-).
Best of luck, and remember, I'm just another user, not an employee 🙂
Hello @EbonyA , the issue still persists for me. As mentioned in FAQ, I currently have Turbo tax desktop and the software is not able to connect to eTrade and giving error message stating 'There are no tax documents available'. Which is incorrect. How can we correct this issue.
The frustrating part is that E-Trade has a summary sheet. So turbo tax should import that 1 page, and just append the rest of transactions or ask customer to. Just not ideal having to manually type in things I'm not an expert on.
Agree.
Atleast I am expecting Turbo Tax to download summary sheet, instead of saying no tax documents available.
Hello...have you checked that third party access is enabled and that you are selecting the correct E*Trade entity from the list? These factors can cause an inability to import. For example, as seen in our Import Partner List, there is the following:
E*TRADE Advisor Services
E*TRADE Bank
E*TRADE Securities
Please also review this resource @SG726
Are you unable to do a summary per the details of the FAQ that LindsayLO provided above? Sorry for the frustration @ngay528.
