Unable to enter numbers in Schedule C line 48

Folks,

 

I am trying to enter in Line 48 of Schedule C. I am unable to. Tried line 27a and I cannot enter anything in both.  I have Turbotax Deluxe Edition Desktop Edition.

Unable to enter numbers in Schedule C line 48

You don't enter the numbers directly on Line 48 or 27. Instead, you enter the expenses on the Schedule C worksheet (Schedule C Wks listed under the Schedule C in Forms in My Return) and the total will carry over to Line 48 and Line 27. OR, you can enter the expenses using the step-by-step guidance. We do not recommend you enter the information directly on the forms in the forms mode.

 

Follow these steps to enter business expenses:

  1. Go to Federal Taxes >> Wages & Income
  2. Select I'll choose what I work on
  3. Click on Start/Update next to Business Income and Expenses (Sch C) in the Business Items section
  4. Click on Add Another Business OR Edit next to the line of business you want to add expenses to
  5. Click on Start next to All other expenses on the Business Expenses screen
  6. On the screen that says Enter Business Expenses Not Yet Reported,  enter the description of the expense and the amount of the expenses. The total from this screen will flow to Line 48 and Line 27. 
  7. Switch to Forms mode, click on the Schedule C to confirm the amount is reported on Line 27.

That goes under Other Misc Expenses 

 

Go to Federal Taxes Tab

Wages and Income

Choose Jump to Full List -or I'll choose what I work on

Then scroll way down to Business Items

 

Then click EDIT by the business name and the next screen should be a list of  topics,

Business Profile, Income, Inventory/Cost of Goods Sold, Expenses, Assets, and Final Details last.

 

Under Business Expenses, Click Start or Update by Other common business expenses.  You should see the list of expenses and amounts you entered.

Then click the start or update button by the expense you want to add or edit.

 

You should not enter directly on the Forms.  Because you need to find the detail source worksheet and if you enter directly on the form it may prevent you from Efiling and invalidate the guarantees.
