Has anyone been able to solve this issue? I don't recall putting a password on my tax return (I'm using Turbotax home and business, PC version not web) but I would gladly answer a security question but all I get are these symbols? I've seen other threads that say this is a user thing and that's fine but this is an obvious glitch in the software, can someone help? This will force hours of additional work retyping info.

I called Turbotax customer service. After 10 minutes the customer service representative hung up on me. This is terrible customer service. I've been a customer of Turbotax for at least 15 years and I've never encountered an issue like this. It's clearly a software flaw in the screenshot above. This will be the last year I use this software.
Let's try to get you back into your account. Select Forgot Password in the password request pop-up screen to answer your security question—that should get you back into your account.
Once you're back in, you can select Password (Windows) or Encrypt (Mac) from the File menu if you want to update or remove your password altogether.

The most recent update caused me to get the 'password' request to open my return to continue working on it. I never created a password. Clicking the 'Forgot Password' didn't help, because there was no question to answer. By chance I figured out that if you keep entering different passwords, eventually, it will accept one and let you in. At that point, you can remove the password, that you never entered and save the file and you will be back where you started. Just keep entering different passwords until it lets you in.
