Turbotax premier 2023 gives a "there seems to be a problem" notice when uploading quicken files. I have tried it both with quicken running and not running. Suggestions?

@peterkronenberg1

I just did a test with TT Deluxe 2024 and Quicken R60.15.

It worked. In fact it pulled in my 2024 data which really surprised me.

I was expecting it to pull data from 2023 since we haven't rolled over to 2025 yet.

I opened TT filled in all info and then I went to Quicken to verify that the numbers were from 2024.

Actions taken.

Opened TT new file (for test purposes)

After filing in name, address, etc.

click File - click Import

Pick Quicken (2024,2023,2022)

Click continue

It found my Qdata file (should be in your Documents folder)

Click Import now

It opened Quicken for the import. I did not have to open it myself.

After it imported Capital Gains it went back to the Import screen to let you Import the Tax Schedule.

Yes. You were always able to export the .txf file and then import those into TT.

If you haven't update your Turbotax. I think there has been 2 small updates.

Manual updates are here.

You are using the Desktop version of TT?

What version of Quicken are you using?
In Quicken go to Help - About.

Example Quicken Deluxe R60.15

You can also try and set your computer with January 1, 2025 date and try importing again.
Like I said before it is normally date related. That is why I was surprised it worked.

Just remember to set it back to the current date.

It's pathetic how many bugs this version has.

All in all, this critical process of tax import/planning remains buggy.

Which tells me Intuit doesn't really care to attend to their software, spending their energies instead in raising prices via subscription schemes.

I watched the NFL playoff game this afternoon and TurboTax seems to be investing rather lavishly in advertising.

TXF file importing fails with T.T.-2024 edition also.

Importing files into TurboTax can be tricky, as individual computer configurations are unknown to us in this forum.

Some things that other users report helping import errors include:

  • Updating both Windows and TurboTax (here's a link for a Manual Update for TT)
  • Temporarily disabling all anti-virus software (including modem)
  • If using TurboTax Online, close the program, clear Cache and Cookies and retry import

Below is posted in the above link.

You should report this problem with Quicken Support.

https://www.quicken.com/support/#contact-support

Also, you can report it through Quicken itself.

Go to Help then down to Report a Problem.

This problem I believe first showed up about 3 years ago.

It the takes Quicken months to fix, but only when enough people complain.

If you'd looked at the date when I reported it, it was over a year ago.  It did it again this year.  I have no hope that they care enough to actually fix it.  You'd think that because Intuit theoretically owns both Quicken and Turbotax that they would know how to integrate them.

I'm not interested in work arounds.  I just want the software to work, as advertised out of the box.  If there are specific settings that need to be enabled, they should tell us what those settings are, not just an endless list of "try this" approaches.

Yeah, this problem has been going on for 2 years, after working for more than 20 years   And there has been no response from Intuit
