I just bought and downloaded the desktop version of TurboTax Deluxe 2023 and installed it. I then registered/activated it. Next I open TurboTax 2023 on my iMac and imported my personal data from my 2022 return.
I then tried to save my new 2023 return but I constantly get this error message:
The document “Untitled” could not be saved as “Tax Return 23”.
How can I save my return so I can access it later and continue to work on it?
You'll need to sign in or create an account to connect with an expert.
You will have to contact TurboTax support for assistance with this problem.
See this TurboTax support FAQ for contacting support - https://ttlc.intuit.com/turbotax-support/en-us/help-article/account-management/turbotax-phone-number...
Support can also be reached by messaging them on these pages https://www.facebook.com/turbotax/ and https://twitter.com/TeamTurboTax
It's always a good idea to make a backup copy of your tax data file, in case you lose the original or it gets corrupted. Here's how:
Did they ever fix this. I’m having the same
problem and I keep getting the he run around from help desk.
No, they did not. Intuit's support was worthless.
However the problem did resolve. Sorry as I do not recall everything clearly that I did myself before it finally started working. I do recall removing TurboTax and associated files with CleanMyMac X, restarted the iMac and redownloaded and reinstalled the TurboTax package.
IIRC, I then opened TurboTax and tried an initial save of a new return, and it worked.
Hoping this helps you. I know the problem is real, and real frustrating!!
I had this same issue when I completed my return and proceeded to print, and it would not save, returning a message, "file name not recognized." I tried many different ways to get around this, and I contacted Intuit support, with no successful resolution. Finally, I tried saving the file to another drive (my backup), and it worked seamlessly. I was subsequently able to move the saved files to my preferred location.
