TT Deluxe Online said I could pay $49 to e-file both my fed

The software is asking to charge me for the 2 forms. I'm concerned it will later ask for an additional charge to efile them. This pricing is not very clear. Everything says the 'free' edition will efile for free, but it's not clear about the efile charge for the Deluxe edition.

Thanks, but that doesn't answer my question. I have already filled out my taxes with the Deluxe version. I know I need that version. The question is; how many times will I be charged? Once for the fed prep, once for the state prep? I'm good with those. Will I be charged yet another time to efile them?

Using the TurboTax online editions there is no e-file fee for either a federal or state tax return.  The TurboTax account fees are for the use of the software to assist in completing a tax return.

The TurboTax Deluxe online edition is $59 and the state program is an additional $49.

The online editions are only for one tax return per account and User ID.  To complete another tax return using the online editions you would need to create a new account with a new User ID.

Thanks. You were right. I was concerned because as I started the review, a screen appeared that said I could e-file both my federal and state forms for an extra $49. I still don't understand what that meant and I can't get that screen to reappear.

There is an Extra $40 Refund Processing Service charge (45 in California) if you want the Turbo Tax fees deducted from your refund.  So pay the fees upfront with a credit card.  Go through the File tab slowly and watch what you click on.

Yeah, I saw that too. The page questioned though specifically talked about a $49 charge to e-file both my returns. Fortunately, I was only charged to complete the forms. No extra charge for e-file. Gotta read carefuily. I wish I had a screen capture of it. Thanks!

Turbo Tax should clearly disclose all fees for every step of the process for purchasing software and filing taxes, this is not presented to the customer until the end of the process, which is not transparent, and it is a deceptive business practice.

They should be upfront with all the fees before you start the process, not hidden until the end. We were charged $90 plus tax to download the software for two states ($45 each), then we were charged $50 to e-file for two states ($25 each). This was very disappointing after all the time it took to input all the information to complete our taxes.

@squrel1 State sales taxes are added to the TurboTax charge of $143.  The sales tax appears to be about 7.69%
