Transfer (import) last year's Turbo Tax return file from Home & Business 2019 to this year Turbo Tax Premier 2020?

On a Mac, I transferred my 2019 returns by renaming them on my computer by adding " .tax2019 " to the name.  Then when I clicked the link to find my returns, TurboTax for 2020 recognized them.

Call the IRS: 1-800-829-1040 hours 7 AM - 7 PM local time Monday-Friday
When calling the IRS do NOT choose the first option re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
So after first choosing your language, then do NOT choose Option 1 (refund info). Choose option 2 for "personal income tax" instead.
Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
Then press 3 "for all other questions."
Then press 2 "for all other questions."
- When it asks you to enter your SSN or EIN to access your account information, don't enter anything.
- After it asks twice, you will get another menu.

Press 2 for personal or individual tax questions.
Then press 4 for all other inquiries
It should then transfer you to an agent.

So Turbo Tax Delux will import a PDF from 2020 for 2021 however it does not appear Turbo Tax BUSINESS will do the same. Appears BUSINESS only imports tax file. Is this correct?

thanks

Can you please clarify, what type of document or form are you wanting to import a PDF for?

Looks like it.  You can only transfer a 1040 pdf into the personal versions and only from other software.  You need the .tax2020 file to transfer into Business.

Where did you do the business return last year?  Did you use Turbo Tax?

And you shouldn't even use the pdf.  It only transfers basic info like your name and ssn and AGI.

Found one.   You can not transfer a pdf to the separate Windows Desktop Business program.  See the Other Notes at the bottom of this one.
