Some but not all providers are putting two transit tax $$ amounts in box 14 of a W-2. They appear to be indicating:
ORSTTW = Oregon Statewide Transit Tax "Wages"
ORSTTT = Oregon Statewide Transit Tax "Tax"
For these two entries (if both are present) the correct tax "Category" must be chosen.

In box 14 of your W-2:
1) For the lower $$ amount use the "Category" ORSTT W/H (the W/H actually stands for WithHolding)
2) For the larger amount....those are wages...my personal opinion is that they should not be listed at all...but for those select "Other not on above list".
Yes..the "default" Category selection that the software might make, that could cause problems for the box with the wages entry.

( For Desktop/download software users there is no "OR STT W/H' Category selection .
Instead, the desktop software has "Oregon Statewide Transit Tax" ....which is the same thing)
So when I'm entering info on my W2 and it asks for the numbers in box 14, I enter the numbers? I'm confused about entering it as "with holding"
There is no OR STT or STT W/H in the box 14 drop down menu.... What do we do ?? Who do we call???
Is Turbo Tax current for 2020 given they do not have STT embedded?
Thanks

@Oofties Normally, the items in Box 14 of your W-2 do not affect your tax return. This is where employers can put any information they choose to.
Click this link for more info on Box 14.
In this specific case, there is definitely a change in tax based on the classification of this specific item in Box 14.
For ORR STT WAGE, if you accidentally put in "Oregon Statewide Transit Tax," it drop your federal tax by several hundred $ erroneously. Also, it then lists this # as the amount of tax paid to the state, which is ~100% of your box 1 W-2 . Both would be wrong.
According to the OR revision for tax years effective 2020 and beyond employers no longer report OR St Wages in box 14 since that information is already reported in Box 16 on the form W2.
Employers only report OSTTT W/H in box 14 which is the amount withheld for OR State Transit Tax. In the box 14 category box in TurboTax you would select the "Oregon Statewide Transit Tax" category.
Seems like my employer didn't get the memo, for either 2020 or 2021. 🤔
I'm having a similar difficulty. I've got the three lines: OR STT Wages (obviously the wages, categorized under "Other, not classified"), OR STT W/H (the withholding for the transit tax, categorized under "Oregon Statewide Transit Tax") but what I don't know what to do or how to categorize is the third: ORD, which has a small dollar amount, I have no idea what this is or how to categorize it. Should I just mark it as "Other, not classified"?)
Thanks!
Yes, "Other, not classified" is the correct selection. Except for special circumstances as listed in the box 14 dropdown menu, the entries in box 14 are informational only and do not affect tax calculations. In this case it appears ORD is a local district transit tax that certain OR employers pay for their employees. The amount is informational to the employee.
