So i should for sure be getting it right ?
All I can say is, "probably". I have to hesitate because the IRS does pull aside a small number (well, small percentage-wise) of returns for additional verification, and if yours is one of them, then your refund will be delayed until you satisfy their curiosity about you.
You will know that this is an issue if you receive a letter from the IRS asking for you to verify your identity, or other concerns.
Basically, the longer time passes and you DON'T get a letter from the IRS, the more likely that they are working on your refund and you will get it eventually.
I received my state but no federal, track my refund says "processing" Anyone else have this? If so did you ever end up getting your federal?
Federal and state refunds come from completely separate entities, There is no rule as to which one will come first or how much time there will be between their arrivals.
TurboTax gives you an estimated date for receiving your refund based on a 21 day average from your date of acceptance, but it can take longer. “21 days” is not a promise from TurboTax or the IRS. Many refunds are taking longer during the pandemic. The IRS is backlogged —-they are still trying to process millions of 2019 returns; and they received over 35 million e-files when e-filing opened for 2020 returns.
Some delays are resulting from incorrect amounts that folks entered for stimulus checks they received. Many people have been confused by the recovery rebate credit and completed it incorrectly. The IRS may delay your refund while they cross-check to see what you received.
First, check your e-file status to see if your return was accepted:
https://turbotax.intuit.com/tax-tools/efile-status-lookup/
If accepted, they try to process it within three weeks but it can be longer. if you have earned income credit or additional child tax credit, it will be at least the end of February before you see your refund, due to the PATH act that requires that they hold your refund longer.
Once your federal return has been accepted by the IRS, only the IRS has any control. TurboTax does not receive any updates from the IRS. Your ONLY source of information about your refund now is the IRS.
You need your filing status, your Social Security number and the exact amount (line 34of your 2020 Form 1040) of your federal refund to track your Federal refund:

If you chose to have your TurboTax fees deducted from your federal refund, that will take some extra time, while the third party bank handles the refund processing.

I already did all of this.. this is of no help.. has ANYONE received their federal?
My federal says still processing. What does that mean?
@Tax20208 "Processing" means exactly what it sounds like. It means the IRS is working on your return and they are not finished with it and have not yet approved of your refund nor have they issued your refund yet.

i still have not gotten my federal, not sure when I will but I checked my state return today and saw it is being sent out for deposit on the 16th. Everything is so backwards this year
If your state refund arrived before your federal, it does not mean that you did something wrong. Things are backwards this year with the IRS because of COVI, unfortunately. You can check the status of your return not only through TurboTax, but also through the IRS website using your IRS Online Account.
Online Account is an online system that allows you to securely access your individual account information. You can view:
The amount you owe, updated for the current calendar day
Your balance details by year
Your payment history and any scheduled or pending payments
Key information from your most recent tax return
Payment plan details, if you have one
Digital copies of select notices from the IRS
Your Economic Impact Payments (EIP 1 and EIP 2), if any
You can also:
Make a payment online
See payment plan options and request a plan via Online Payment Agreement
Access your tax records via Get Transcript
Here is the link to see your Online Tax Account.
Do it mean something if my state cone before my federal refund
No. The IRS and your state operate independently of each other and therefore, the time frame in which each return is accepted and processed can vary. It is not unusual that you received your state return before your federal.
The IRS generally releases most refunds within 21 calendar days after the e-file has been accepted. To get the most up-to-date status of your federal return, please visit the IRS Where's My Refund? site. You can check the status of your return every 24 hours as they do update the site daily - usually in the overnight hours.
@THood0526
It says processed and accepted. State came and now the info doesn't work. It looks as if I got my moneybon turbo tax. Where is my federal taxes? None of my info changed but it always said it was wrong on irs gov. But showed me approved and status bar on turbo tax is completed. And the number for ira does not accept calls no more. This is crazy. Because none of these answers are helping just dsyin same thing that dont help or work.
@Takobell TurboTax is not saying that your refund was approved. it is saying that your return was accepted---those words do not have the same meaning.
