A family with multiple active IRAs and savings accounts can receive a multitude of 1099's, several from the same institution, and there's no good way to differentiate between them. It would be good to add the capability to add a note or identifier to them, so on the "Your 1099-R Entries", and the investment entries (where 1099-INT's are created), the entries are additionally identified by the user. For instance, 1099-R's from "ETrade from Morgan Stanley" could have "His" and "Hers" appended, so we know which is which.

Does it not ask you if the 1099 is for Taxpayer or Spouse--a check box or something?
If you are filing a Joint return it should ask who it’s for, his, hers or both. You can also enter any name for interest and dividends. Like for interest I have Wells Fargo (husband name) and Wells Fargo (my name). But I don’t import any forms. I enter all mine manually.
