We received a W2 from a class actions suite and there is no employer state ID on the form. It won’t let me put 0’s or 9’s. What do I put so I can still file online? I am in Kentucky. It was only for $32 but I don’t want to get audited for not reporting

If there were no state income taxes withheld in box 16, then leave boxes 15, 16 and 17 blank (empty).
It has 32.09 in box 16 and 1.60 in box 17. Also received a 1099INT for same amount

Did the 1099-INT have a state ID in boxes 15 and 16 along with the state taxes withheld in box 17?
No, they are all blank
Then enter the EIN that is in box b of the W-2 in box 15 for state employer ID.
It says it’s supposed to be 6 digits. EIN is 9 numbers 😟
Can I just leave those sections blank? It’s not very much and the amount is still being reported.
The issue is the TurboTax program will not proceed and you will not be able to e-file your tax return if you leave the state ID and employer ID blank on the form. You would need leave boxes 15 thru 17 blank to proceed.
Unable to locate prior reply on this site on filing online tax returns when State ID is not printed on w2.
I seem to recall a prior response to input the federal ID in the State ID field to allow Turbo Tax to be accepted and allow it to be filed online.
I did this however, I was wondering if you know if the tax returns will be processed when the Fed and State get the file?
Any help in directing me to see my prior questions on this site would be appreciated
Thanks
Paul
It depends. Some states have a requirement that the number have a prescribed number of digits. For example, the California State EIN is an eight-digit number whereas the Federal EIN is a nine-digit number.
If this involves a W-2, contact the employer for the number. For larger companies, you may be able to find the number with an online search.
If you used the Federal ID and TurboTax allowed you to file, your Federal return should be accepted. In the event that your State return is rejected, follow the instructions in the error message.
