I understand this is a commonly asked question, but there are contradicting answers.
My wife recently got a new SSN, and we just sent the letter to IRS asking tax records to be switched from ITIN. But it might take some time.
In the mean time, I tried to efile the tax with the new SSN, first i got the following rejection.
IND-032-04 - 'SpousePriorYearPIN' or 'SpousePriorYearAGIAmt' in the Return Header must match the e-File database.
The after some research, I tried to enter last year AGI as 0. But now I'm getting the following rejection.
IND-031-04 - The primary taxpayer's AGI or Self-select PIN from last year does not match IRS records.

File with the SSN only. You will have to file by mail this year. Potentially you could e-file with the ITIN, but that could cause worse headaches down the road and filing by mail only delays your refund by an extra 2 weeks or so.
Short answer Yes, use the new SSN. When I try to e-file I go the error IND-032-04 because the IRS has my wife ITIN and not the new SSN. In another post I found you should enter 0 when asking for your wife Adjusted Gross Income (AGI). This is the link to IRS

If my client had an ITIN (IRS Individual Taxpayer Identification Number) when they filed their prior year tax return, but now has a SSN for the current filing season, what prior year AGI amount do they use?
If your client had an ITIN when they filed their prior year tax return, but now has a SSN to file their current year tax return, they should use Zero (0) as the prior year AGI amount.

This help article will provide assistance. The AGI or Self-select PIN from last year doesn't match IRS records.
Error: IND-032-04
It worked when I submitted "0" as my spouse's AGI.
