Shall I delete my deceased husband from our combined account or shall I start a new account?

You should start a new account if your spouse passed away in 2019 or earlier.

Go to the TurboTax website for online returns, select the edition you want to use and create a new account User ID and password - https://turbotax.intuit.com/personal-taxes/online/

Do NOT use the Sign In button until after the account has been created.

So sorry for your loss.  First---what year did your spouse pass away?  If it happened in 2020 you can still file a joint return for 2020 using the same account.   Here is information for that situation

For the year that your spouse died, you can still file a joint return.  That way, you will get the married filing jointly standard deduction of $24,800 (+ $1300 for each spouse 65 or older) which will lower the amount of income you are taxed on.

In My Info, you will need to indicate that your spouse died. When his name is in My Info,  there is a screen early in the interview that asks "Do any of these apply to [name] ?’” where you will do that, and then a drop down will appear where you can enter the date he passed.

If you have dependent children still living at home, you will be able to file as a qualified widow for the next two years after this tax return.  Post back if you need further help.

If your spouse passed away in an earlier year then you will need to start a new account for yourself that does not have any of your late spouse's information on it.  It is just too hard to remove a spouse's information if you try to keep using the account that was used for a joint return.  To start a new account you need a new account and a new user ID.  (Keep a record of the account and user ID for the "old" account so you can get it to it if necessary)

This will be starting from "scratch" so you have to enter everything.
