I am self employed and want to do my 2024 taxes now and get a copy of the completed 2024 tax return, 1040, schedule C, etc. all now before the IRS starts accepting filed taxes later in January. I am applying for a mortgage loan and the lender needs a copy of my 2024 tax return to get the approval then I plan to file and pay in person at IRS office as soon as the IRS starts accepting taxes at the end of January and submit that stamped return to lender in time for closing on the house.
If I pay for turbotax premium for self employed now, fill out all my tax info will I be able to get a copy of my 2024 tax return, 1040, schedule C, etc. right now? I tried with different tax software but because efiling is not open yet it would not give me a copy so just making sure turbotax will before I take the time to fill it all out and pay for it.
Just making sure turbotax won't stop me at the end and say they cannot go further until a certain date in January. I need the 2024 tax return now. Thank you!

Yes you can pay the Online fees early and be able to print it out. But the program won't be fully ready so you may not get a correct printout. If you say to print it should make you pay the fees.
How to print your return before filing

Thank you for the reply. What do you mean by the program won't be fully ready so I may not get a correct printout?
There are a lot of forms and schedules that are not yet ready. Many forms do not become available from the IRS or the states until later in the tax season. We do not know the specific documents you intend to enter, so we have no way to know if the current software will work correctly and completely for you.
1) Many forms are not ready in the software for final filing.....some may be ready 9 January and most of the rest on 16 January..like Schedule D, or Schedule A for itemized deductions, and a lot more....even the IRS has a number of forms that are Draft Copy only at this point in time.
2)...some that are temporarily available will also have "Do Not File" permanently printed on them if you print them out....and the IRS probably won't accept them.
3) Calculations using forms that are not ready may not calculate properly with the correct 2024 tax rules.
The software for 2024 is simply not finished sufficiently for preparing an accurate tax return for anything but a simple W-2 only filing.....and it never is this early in the tax filing year......mid-late January is more normal for most situations.

Not sure what the Mortgage lender expects you to do.
....Not sure any Software provider has complete 2024 forms ready for use yet
The latest tax return available for loan approval purposes is 2023.
IRS has not started accepting 2024 tax returns.
Not to mention that you don't have to file until Oct 15 2025 if you request an extension.
You can submit latest pay stubs to substantiate 2024 income.
You can submit notice of 2025 salary - perhaps showing a raise - to substantiate 2025 income.
Make sure you did not misunderstand what the lender is asking for. Asking for a completed 2024 tax return this early is unreasonable. If the person you are working with says that's what they need, see if you can speak to someone else, perhaps higher up in the organization, who might have a better understanding of how tax return filing works. The person you are talking to might be working from a checklist that he himself does not fully understand.
If the lender is really insisting on a completed final tax return in January, you should look for a more reasonable lender.
1099-NEC forms, W-2s, and other income reporting forms do not have to be sent out until January 31. In many cases income reporting forms for investments, such as 1099-B or 1099-DIV, do not have to be sent out until February 15. But people do get mortgages in January. There must be mortgage lenders who are more realistic about the documents that they ask for.
