How do you report an error in the Basic version of Turbotax? Errors on 1040-SR. On line 12b program enters $300 instead of $600 (when filing as married filing joint). This error can be manually corrected after review finds the problem. However, the program leaves line 12c blank (should be adding 12a and 12b). It does show correct amount on line 14 (which adds lines 12c and 13) but I'm afraid to submit my taxes electronically as line 12c being blank might cause IRS computers to reject return.
This is getting frustrating as I have all my documentation and my taxes are done but I cannot submit my return. I can't find anywhere on the website or in the program that allows you to submit errors you find in the program.

Yes. Since you are using the CD/Download software, you can make it print Form 1040 instead of Form 1040-SR. Form 1040 will show the correct amount on line 12c.
In forms mode, open the Federal Information Worksheet. Scroll down a little to Part II, where your address is shown. A few lines below your address is a line that says "Print Form 1040-SR instead of Form 1040." On that line, click the No box. Then it will print Form 1040.
I will report the bug in Form 1040-SR.
I believe that error was fixed in a recent update. Make sure your TurboTax software has the latest updates. On the Online menu select "Check for Updates."
Thanks for the reply. I am using the CD version. I had the program check for updates and it indicated I was using the latest version. Maybe this problem was fixed in other versions of the program.

Downloaded update file and it initially failed to install. It did install after I uninstalled and reinstalled TurboTax. It then ran the latest update. This did not fix the problem. In looking through the forms section of the program it seems to be fine (after I fix the $600 vs $300 issue) and shows the entry in line 12c. However that seems to be if the program was filing a 1040 instead of a 1040-SR. When I get to the final step of reviewing the return just before it is e-filed it still shows line 12c with no entry on the 1040-SR.

Yes you can tell it to file 1040. I did. But that might not help.
If you use the Desktop program you can switch to forms and the Info Wks part II has a selection to select 1040SR or not. You can not change it in the Online versions.

I can find the Forms section but I can't see where on the 1040/1040SR Wks it allows you to select 1040 vs 1040-SR. The only form shown completed in the Forms section is actually the 1040 which shows line 12c completed. However when I go to the regular section for filing it is still trying to complete and submit the 1040-SR.
It's not on the 1040/1040SR Worksheet. It's on the Federal Information Worksheet (Info Wks). See my previous reply above for details.

Open the Federal Information Worksheet (Info Wks) in Forms mode. In Part II check the box No to Print Form 1040-SR instead of Form 1040
Here's a screen shot from my Windows Home & Business program.

That did the trick. I was looking at the wrong tab before. I found the switch and turned off the 1040-SR. The 1040 that was then generated worked fine (line 12c if filled in). I was able to finally complete my electronic filing. Thank you very much!
