Recovery Rebate credit

I was denied this credit for my daughter who was born in December of 2020. If they show children amd babies were eligible who were born between January 1 2020 through December 31 2020 why would they deny her? Also we are a family of 4 and we only got a deposit of one 1400 payment!? We are all filed on our 2020 taxes so what can we do?

Recovery Rebate credit

When you say the credit was denied for your daughter born in December 2020, was this when you were filing the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2020 return?  Did you have other children listed as dependents on your 2020 return?  What were their ages?  Did you list that your daughter lived with your the whole year?

As far as the third stimulus, the IRS has not always been sending the entire payment as one deposit.  In some cases, you receive a portion through direct deposit and a portion via a paper check.  You can check each ssn on the Where's My Payment portal on IRS.gov.

Recovery Rebate credit

The third stimulus payment is based off the 2019 return OR  a 2020 return that was fully processed before they started sending out the payment.  This also happened with the first 2 payments last year ... so if you do not get the rest of the payments you are entitled to in advance then you will be able to apply for the missing money as a credit on the 2021 return you file next year.  Sadly the system is not perfect and never will be.
