They released a new Mac version today (2024.r16.018). Still has the same issues.
Same issue. It is clearly a problem with Turbotax systems and not the remote banks etc.
It is a recaptcha problem that TurboTax needs to fix:
The error message "ERROR for site owner: Invalid key typefor enterprise key" indicates that the key type used for your reCAPTCHA implementation is incorrect. Try to verify the key type and ensure it aligns with the expected format. You might also need to generate a new key with the correct type.
Please stop ignoring the problem or trying to blame it on the banks, customers are in the middle and the finger pointing back and forth needs to stop.
Turbotax, fix your issue.

Unfortunately, The Recaptcha Error has reduced convenience, value, and ease of use etc that I had grown accustomed to) with 2024 TurboTax over the previous 10 years. I am hopeful that the Community response, illustrating this issue, has encouraged Intuit Turbo Tax to react and resolve the issue. Thanks
Same problem here. Was on live link with TT rep for over an hour yesterday with no solution. He said he had never seen this before but aside from profusely apologizing, his solution was to fat finger everything in!! I said the only reason I paid for TT was for the import festure.
Here’s what fixed it for me:
clear cache of browser
confirm latest Turbo Tax Update
restart Computer
open Turbo Tax
login to Intuit account
then try to do the download
Clearing web browser cache and a reboot seem to do the trick - for me using latest version of MacOS and Safari. Turbotax support team needs to be aware of this!
In case anyone from TT is monitoring this thread. I have done all the things others have suggested and I still have the reCAPTCHA error for the two financial institutions I use, Vanguard and Ally. I am using desktop software on a MacBook. Updated software, no vpn, cleared cache in Safari, restarted computer. In addition, I turned off pop-up blocker, turned off ad blocker, and started in safe mode and then restarted normally just in case something else was broken. The error remains. Tech support told me I can enter the data manually. Even though I have only two financial institutions, I have quite a lot of forms and I paid for software with an import function.
I just asked for a refund. Not being able to import makes turbotax something I do not need.
I was having EXACTLY the same issue when I attempted to import my tax forms from Vanguard and Ally up until 2 days ago. Then I did two things that fixed the problem: 1. I turned off my ExpressVPN. 2. I downloaded the most current version of TurboTax (for MacOS) which was version 2024.r16.018 (Jan 30th build date.). Not sure exactly which of those steps worked, but I was able to download BOTH my Ally and Vanguard Brokerage tax information right away with NO issues whatsoever!!!
Here is what I did on the Mac to solve the import problem:
Safari >Settings>Privacy>Manage Website Data>Remove All>Done
Safari>History>Show All History>Clear History
Reboot
I also disabled ad blocking in my Eero router, although I tested import again with ad blocking enabled and it still worked, so ad blocking was not the problem.
Using Mac latest software Sequoia 15.3
I'm running on Windows, have the latest version of TT, checked for Windows updates, still get the error message.
Windows 11, TT desktop version still has the recaptcha issue with Vanguard as of Jan 31, 1:00 PST. I have updated and applied all Windows and TT updates.
Please fix the issue!!!
Thank you. I have spent 2 hours clearing caches, extensions, VPNs, deleting files and I still have the same error when I try importing investments from both companies that I need.
Intuit, the imports worked last year, why isn’t it working this year? When to anticipate the fix?
Wanted to provide the community with an update on this recaptcha error that you may find useful.
There is a (not great) workaround: I was able to import the 1099 without issue on the web version of TT. You can then export the return under “Tax Tools->Tools->Save your 2024 return to your computer” and open it in desktop with all your imports intact. Note that If you can import via the web, it means you are able to connect to your financial institution and they are not the problem, which is a good thing to know.
Assuming you can do that, then I would look closer to home:
Check your computer - to make sure you don’t some kind of security software on there that is blocking TT Desktop. (The behavior of an App that is reaching back out to to a remote site looks a lot like hacker activity to most network security software)
Check your network - do you have a Firewall or Router of some kind that is blocking this kind of activity. I found that the EERO WIFI Router (standard with Frontier Fiber at your house) with “Advanced Security & Ad Blocking” turned on can mistakenly block TT Desktop as well. Most modern routers can do this kind of thing if you have it turn on, and it’s often turned on by default.
Hope that helps,
Best of luck.
I had the same Recaptcha error today. I resolved it by turning off the Add Blocking and Advanced Security on my Eero Wi-Fi system.
