I'm in the same situation....filed 2/1, no EV credit, never accepted. Significant others was accepted immediately. Ridiculous.
I filed with tax act due to this issue and reps continue to lie. and i was accepted the same day then turbotax decides to want to now transmit it over and it rejected turbotax .... so you can file with tax act it won't mess up your taxes it's just going to kick out turbotax reject it
I efiled and have been pending since the 3rd of February
I’m experiencing the same issue!
I didn’t even use that credit and I’ve still haven’t gotten accepted. This has never happened to me before. I will never use them again for the rest of my life.
@jtoto28 Same boat. I filed on 1/23/25 and rejected on 2/3/25 due to joint occupancy on form 5695 as I share the home with my fiancée and we got the hvac heat pump installed last year. She will not be claiming any credit. I will be claiming the 2k credit. Did you get the same rejection code? Joint occupancy or just by yourself? Did you get your refund from taxact? I might refile with them if you did. Thank you.
@Cmtc Yes - same situation, same rejection code. Only difference is we’re married filing separately. The rejection is a BS error code from turbotax, willing to bet they never actually transmitted your return to the IRS just like with mine, just held it in limbo for 18 days. I re-filed with TaxACT on 1/30, fed accepted within an 1 minute, state accepted within 4 hrs
, fed fully processed on 2/4 with direct deposit pending in acct today set to deposit tomorrow, state fully processed 2/5 set to deposit by 2/10. I’ve never seen a faster turnaround personally, TaxACT must have something to do with it somehow. Attaching texts I’ve received from their bank “Republic” to prove
this timeline.
@Cmtc and here’s the fake “joint occupancy” rejection from TurboTax I was notified about on 2/3 once they refunded me my filing fees. Both state and fed rejected for this, despite state having nothing to do with form 5965 lol
@jtoto28 Thanks for the information. Do you have to do pay via tax return, or can you just pay with your debit/credit card? I'll be giving them a call to try to get my $128 back lol. Thanks again.
My returns finally got accepted by the IRS. I did talk to someone at turbo tax and this person was EXTREMELY HELPFUL, it seems like some people had not so good customer service reps, but the one that I had was extremely good and probably was the reason why my return eventually went through...
I had a "security" issue on my account. Never had that before but apparently it's a new thing. Anyway, when I called to adress the issue, a woman shared with me that my info was clear and that there were no duplicate accounts using my information, so she "lifted" a "hold" on my account.
It was not clear to me that there was a "hold" on my account (nothing indicated anything about that) but after the rep told me they lifted it, that's when I knew about it. She didn't tell me some "important" things that eventually another rep told me about.
A couple days since the "lift" had passed, and still my return was "pending". I was concerned that it wasn't processing like previous years. So I called turbo tax AGAIN - and this time I got a really great rep. She consulted someone above her, I think it was either a tax expert or someone top tier, but she knew who to ask. They looked at my account, made sure that everything was good on their part and then came back and told her that because my account was on hold, that it would be about 48 hours more till the IRS could respond. She told me to check back tomorrow or Friday and I should get a response.
She put my concerns at ease and the next day (today), I learned that the returns processed early this morning and federal/state were both accepted. For some reason deep down inside I feel that it was something they probably did that facilitated a successful transfer. I am horrified that some of you have to wait 5 months for your tax return. Please reach out to the customer service, let them know that you paid for your services and that as a paid customer, you expect to get to the bottom of this. There's no reason why they should not know why you're hung up on your taxes...they're responsible for transmitting your returns in a timely matter to the IRS once you hit that "send" button. So please check. If you have a security issue know that your returns are on "hold" EVEN THOUGH IT DOESN'T SAY IT, so I'd suggest calling them, make sure your account is good and have them lift the hold.
Praying for the best for all of you!
@Cmtc Sure thing. I initially paid Turbotax upfront and was kicking myself for doing so when I ran into these issues, thinking that they wouldn't refund me for the filing fees and deny any wrongdoing. I erred on the side of caution when re-submitting my second set of returns through TaxACT and elected to pay via tax return to avoid being out two sets of filing fees if TaxACT held my returns like TurboTax did, or if I ran into issues of having a dual submission of returns with the IRS/state... However TaxACT does give you the option to pay upfront with a card if you'd rather do that.
I am going through the exact same thing. I usually file with freetaxusa but I did turbotax this year to get the advance loan. But if my return isn't accepted TODAY Feb 7th 2025 I'm filing again with freetax. Honestly I'm tempted to just do it now but I'm giving turbo another 12 hours or so.
The joint occupancy reject is real.
If you have Form 5695 and claiming joint occupancy, the IRS will not be accepting these returns until 3/16/25. You can see this on this IRS site. The language you see below is from Row 39 of the Tax Year 2024 spreadsheet.
Taxpayers claiming Joint Occupancy on Form 5695 will have to file via paper if filing their return before the Form 5695 schema is updated in mid-March. This temporary limitation should only impact a subsection of Form 5695 filers. For a preview of the TY24 draft form and instructions for Form 5695, please see the Draft tax forms on IRS.gov at https://www.irs.gov/draft-tax-forms. Submission of Forms 5695 that do not claim Joint Occupancy may be e-filed at the start of Processing Year 2025
@jtoto28 let me know when you get your refund. I filed yesterday and got the text message about federal and state being accepted. The turbo tax person is saying its a real thing lol.
How long did you wait before acceptance?
