I paid 2019 tax I owed in April 2020 after filing 2019 tax return. If I add this to the tax deduction to 2020 tax return on TurboTax, I can't efile CA tax return. It returns the message "The return has withholding from a source other then Forms W2, W2G, 1099R, 1099G, 1099INT, 1099DIV, 1099B, 1099MISC, 592B, and 593." I tried without the deduction once again, it looks it allows efiling the CA tax return. What's wrong and how can I efile the CA tax return that includes above deduction?

@maehara You need to remove the payments made for the 2019 federal and state taxes owed and paid in 2020.
Federal taxes owed and paid for a prior tax year are not entered on a federal tax return.
State taxes owed and paid for a prior tax year cannot be entered on a state tax return.
You can enter state taxes paid in 2020 on the 2020 federal tax return as an itemized deduction.
To enter state income taxes paid -
On the next screen scroll down to Other Income Taxes Paid in 2020
On Balance due on your 2019 state taxes paid in 2020, click the start button
Or enter state taxes paid in the Search box located in the upper right of the program screen. Click on Jump to state taxes paid
Was this payment in 2020 for state taxes owed on the 2019 state tax return? If so, that state tax payment for 2019 is not entered on a 2020 state tax return.
State taxes paid in 2020 can be entered on the federal tax return as an itemized deduction on Schedule A.
Thank you for the quick reply. It was both federal and state tax owed on the 2019 return. I entered the each tax that I paid in 2020 after filing the tax return, on TurboTax. After I entered the both federal and state tax ($0 for local tax at the bottom), TurboTax asked for State tax once again then I entered the same amount of the State tax owed.
When I entered the amount of 2019 federal tax owed and paid in 2020, the federal tax refund jumped up and I was worry that I might be doing something wrong. But I just followed the question/description of the page and entered what I paid in 2020. I continued entered the amount of 2019 state tax owed and paid in 2020 on that page. Then I entered the amount of 2019 state tax owed and paid in 2020 again, as the following page asked. Please let me know what the right entries for these pages. Thank you in advance.
