@Nealzilla What version do you have? If you have the Desktop Home & Business version go yo Personal instead of Federal.
Many thanks for the solution to this question.
Very grateful.
I see that the question has been answered here, but why did it have to take me 30 minutes to figure out where it was answered? Why doesn't TurboTax just let me enter it in the Federal Information Worksheet!!!!!!😒
TurboTax still requires you to use a five-digit PIN, so I'm no where.
But TurboTax still asked for a 5-digit number to efile, which the IRS won't accept

In the filing section, everyone who efiles has to select a 5-digit PIN in order to "Sign" the return. It's on the same screen as one's birth date and "today's date." Those 3 items constitute the "Signature." For that 5-digit PIN you can use any 5 digits of your choosing (except not all zeros), and it should say that on the screen. For some people the 5 digits already populate from the prior year. For everyone else they just have to make up any random 5-digits of their choosing.
Okay. But the IRS won't accept the return without my six-digit IP PIN

For desktop users, that is indeed an option to go into Forms Mode and enter the 6-digit IP Protection PIN directly onto the Federal Information Worksheet. But even on the Federal Information Worksheet it's not intuitive where to find it. It's in Part VII, which is oddly the State Filing section, although the IP PIN has nothing to do with state filing.

That's correct. The IP PIN is completely different and entered in a different interview topic. Are you still unable to find the IP PIN entry site in the interview using the steps provided higher up in this thread? I can't tell. If so, I can go over the steps again. Or if you are using desktop software and want to enter it in Forms Mode, see the image I provided in another reply to you.
I've done all that. But it still keeps getting rejected for an incorrect IP PIN. And I have double-checked the PIN on IRS.gov.
I only put it in the Federal "Special Situations". I also put it in the state filing section and try once more.
It was automatically entered there when I put it in the Federal section. I'll try one more time, then I am printing and mailing the return and using other software next year!
It was accepted the last night. I had quit and restarted TurboTax in the meantime, but had previously saved it after entering the IP PIN.
Topic Search does not exist on the downloaded, desktop version.
No Thanks - it does not exist on the desk top version. Now my return is rejected with no cure.
