I have read the posts on this subject, and it is still not clear if/when I will be able to e-file. I had no problem e-filing last year with the same forms? What's up?
1) When will the necessary forms be available?
2) When they are available, will I be able to e-file as I did last year?
Please answer both questions.
Although this form is listed as availabe (Form 1116 Foreign Tax Credit) I performed the required update but it still is telling me the form is not here. I checked for updates within the program and it is telling me that everything is up to date. Anything I'm missing here (besides form)?
TT will not allow a foreign tax credit, only a deduction at this time. Why????
I have the same questions as HDR. I have Form 1116 now, but my return is still not complete because I don't have the carryover information needed.
AND I have for many years, all of which included a carryover for foreign taxes, been able to e-file my taxes.
1. When will the extra software for the carryover be ready? (Is it 3/31/22?)
2. Will I be able to e-file as in the past? Please explain why, if I can't.
3. If I can't e-file, will TT refund the price of this year's software? The cost of printing and mailing this return, with no prior warning, is not a customer-friendly situation!
Please keep us informed if your Tax return is accepted by IRS.
Now it appears it may be 3/31/22, Schedule B line 10, Carryover will be updated. May be after that we will be able to e-file tax return.
Sorry Pal, Intuit is for making money. Not for giving. I don't recall reading any time Intuit refunded money because one could not e-file.
Feds accepted my e-file.
So I dug deeper into the forms and found that form 1116 was in fact in there but the heading says not to be filed. In the review section TT still saying form not available. I filled and everything was accepted.
Sir/Madam,
Please clarify. Did you e-file Tax Return with Foreign Credit, form 1116, as it is now, and return was accepted? Tax return at review asks to file by Mail and not to e-file as Schedule B line 10, Carryover form is not available.
For clarification;
I did not need the schedule B line 10 carryover. Just the 1116 Foreign Tax Credit. Since I was well below the $600 max, the form was printed on top DO NOT FILE THIS FORM.
So it appears that the 1116 form that TT was waiting for, was in fact in the update but the review did not seem to recognize it. Anyway, once I saw that the form was in the stack, (even though it was not required)... I filed and everything was accepted. I was never told to file by mail.
I hope this helps.
Similar frustrations as pucksfriend. According to the TT schedule, Form 1116 Schedule B will be available Mar 17, 2022 for paper filing but will never be available for e-filing. I had similar foreign tax credit carryovers last year and had no issues e-filing. Why is it not being included in TT Premier for e-filing? I purchased this product, in part, for the free federal e-file. How do I override this missing form to e-file through TurboTax?
I got confirmation from office of the President, Intuit/TurboTax, that once new update comes out on 3/17/2022, we will be able to e-file our Tax Return with Foreign Tax Credit, form 1116, with Schedule B reconciliation, carryover. Let us wait until then and let us not get panic at least now. I do note that on list of forms to be released 1116 reconciliation is not supported. However, in past there was a PDF attachment with tax return, and I believe will be done same way this year.
Just to clarify, form 1116 became available as of 3/3. As per this document https://care-cdn.prodsupportsite.a.intuit.com/forms-availability/turbotax_fed_online_individual.html , Sched B of form 1116 appears to be coming available tomorrow. Lets see if we can e-file once we go past this issue.
Frankly it is embarrassing how Turbotax communicates and relies on the community to figure things out. I called support 2 time s and they were absolutely clueless. Let's see what tomorrow brings
It is 03/12/2022. The turbotax site indicates the form is available but it is still not able to be used by TurboTax Premiere 2021 desktop windows. I am current on all updates, and the form 1116 still indicates DO NOT FILE and the software shows Foreign Tax Credit Form Available 0 under Tax Forms to Revisit. when can my taxes be filed?
